Claudia Jean Wynn was born in Atlanta, Georgia, to Henry and Effie Wynn on September 18, 19SO. Claudia was the second blessing of three to this union.
At a young age, she joined and was baptized at the First Mount Pleasant Baptist Church, and at the age of 13, she moved her membership to Wheat Street Baptist Church.
Claudia grew up in "Old Forth Ward," where she attended Nathan B. Forest Elementary and David T. Howard High schools.
As a young girl, she participated in the Brownies and Girl Scouts and was crowned "Miss Y Teen," at Nathan B. Forest Elementary. She also attended the Grady Homes Girls Club. Claudia was an avid piano player, taking piano lessons from the age of five to 18 years old. At David T. Howard High School, she participated in the band as a majorette, a member of the school chorus, and would accompany the chorus as their pianist for the All State Chorus Competition. She was a Junior Debutant and Debutant. By her senior year, Claudia was voted "Most Popular" and "Best Dressed," and was crowned Miss David T. Howard, class of 19671968.
She attended Spelman College as a music major and DeK.alb College, where she majored in business management. As a young business woman, Claudia took charge of managing several businesses owned by her family.
On February 19, 1978, God blessed her with the love of her life, India Maria Juarez, whom she loved, guided and supported as mother and proud grandmother of her grandchildren.
In 1980, Claudia graduated from the Faye's Institute of Cosmetology, as valedictorian. In 1985, she opened "Claudia's Hair Innovations," where she was not a hair dresser, but a hair care specialist. Many would say, "Nobody can do my hair like Claudia!"
She served on the board of the Wheat Street Charitable Foundation, a member of the Gospel Choir, Combined Choir, Handbell Choir, and an honorary member of the Nurses Guild, and in her youth she was a Chanter. Claudia's main civic duties were to participate in the Annual NAACP Membership Drive and the Neighborhood NPU for the Forth Ward and Bedford Pine communities. Claudia's life remained anchored in Christ, centered around her family, church and community.
Claudia leaves to continue her legacy, one daughter, India Maria Juarez; four grandchildren, Justin I<hali Hasan, Inara Chloe' Hasan, Jordan Nasir Hasan, and Imani I<hatia Hasan; one sister, Ms. Henrietta Wynn; one brother Mr. and Mrs. Henry Nelson (Letitia) Wynn, Jr.; one aunt, Mrs. Esther Webb, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
