Mrs. Helen Broadnax Withers. daughter of the late John and Victoria Roach Broadnax. was born in Rockingham County. North Carolina.
She had a great love for her church. Little Salem Christian Church. She gave freely of herself and was willing to do what she could for its progress. She served faithfully with the Christian Women's Fellowship and other church activities until her health slowed her activities.
Her work as a housekeeper spanned for many years. She loved her work and was a loyal employee.
Mrs. Withers was a loving mother. grandmother, and aunt. She was a friend to many and was very concerned about her neighbors and friends. Everyone knew her as a kind, loving. and giving person. She was always willing to share with others and was wen-respected throughout the community.
As her lllness became more severe. the love and concern she had showered upon her family was returned as they demonstrated their concern for her well-being.
Her passing on Sunday. March 5, 2000. at Annie Penn Memorial Hospital. Reidsville, North Carolina saddened the hearts of many.
Leaving to cherish her memory: one son. John B. Withers. Columbus. Ohio: three grandchildren: a host of nieces and nephews: many other relatives and friends.
God loves the Aged. He ~lves them ~reater visions than the youn~:
He puts the words of wisdom on their ton~ue: And lleeps His presence ever by their side,
from dawn to dust. and throu~h eventide.
God helps the Aged. Within their home His spirit ever dwells:
Their mellow hearts are touched lllle chlmln~ bells: He calms their fears. then worries. then worries disappear.
Because they llnow His help Is always near.
God helps the A~ed . With hearts of ~ld and silver tinted hair,
And earnestness. and ~reater faith In prayer: He lleeps them as a shepherd ~uards his sheep.
'Till In His fold they ~ently fall asleep. - Charles W. H..Bancroft
With a humble and prayerful "thank you". we acknowledge with grateful appreciation the many acts of kindness and love showned during the Illness and death of our loved one.
