THE OBITUARY
If there were no God, we might despair today. If there were no Jesus like God, there would be nothing to give us co nsolationor strength or hope for such hours, the hours we are experiencing th e loss of our loved one, Mr. Elmer Withers, who passed away Tuesday , February 12, 1985 at the Annie Penn Memorial Hospital, Reidsville after about one year of declining health and two weeks of hospital confinement.
He was the son of the late George and Sabe Bushnell Withers born in Caswell County where he spent his entire life and was engaged in farming prior to his retirement.
Elmer was a hard worker, loving and kind to everyone. He had a special interest in young people and enjoyed doing positive things to amuse them. His radaiting personality drew many hearts to him.
His survivors are a sist er, Mrs. Sadie W. Gwynn of Route 1, Pelham; 2 brothers, Forrest Withers of Route 1, Ruffin and Benton Withers of Newport News, Va. , a sister-in-law with whom he lived, Mrs. Mamie Withers; other sister and brother in law; nieces; nephews, other relatives and friends.
I long for household voices gone For vanished smiles I long,
But God hath led my dear ones on, And He can do no wrong.
