Mary Carter Wilson was born on December 25, 1924 to the late Josephine and Henry Carter in Jacksonville, Florida. She received her early education in the Jacksonville Public School System. Following a brief battle with lung cancer, Mary departed this life on December 8, 2014. she was converted at an early age at the Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church in Jacksonville, Florida.

Mary left Jacksonville at an early age and relocated to Brooklyn, New York and resided in New York for over sixty-seven years. She worked as a presser in New York's famous garment district until her retirement. After her retirement, Mary was a caretaker for many of the relatives of her friends. When her health began to decline, she relocated to Decatur, Georgia in 2009 to be closer to her only child, Henry Manning and daughter-in-law, Janet. Shortly after moving to Georgia, Mary connected with the Greater Piney Grove Baptist Church in 2010 where she became a member and was loved by the Mothers Ministry of the church. She enjoyed assembling the food boxes for the Temporary Emergency Food Assistance Program (TEFAP) held at Piney Grove.

Mary was a faithful member of the Community Protestant Church, Bronx,

New York for thirty-two years under the leadership of Reverend Calvin

Owens. While at Community Protestant Church she served on the

Hospitality Ministry, was Matron to the children's and youth choirs and

served on the Arkansas and

Four States Connecticut.

Committee which included Mary was a volunteer with

FthloeriBdala' cAk laFboarmuma'

Volunteer Food Program in her beloved Co-op City community and was a

member of the NAACP for many years. Mary loved to entertain her friends

with lavish dinner parties and celebrations. She took great pride in adorning

her dinner tables with the season's best decor. Mary enjoyed the company

of many, many friends in New York. We just can't list them all.

Mary was preceded in death by five sisters. She leaves to cherish her
memory: one son, Henry Ganet) Manning; two grandsons, Antonio and
Alex (Yolanda) Manning; great-grandchildren, Cedric (Niomi) Manning, Anthony Manning, Alexis Manning, Tiauna Manning, Summer and Yusef
