MT. SINAI PRIMITWE BAPTIST CHURCH 2839 Tenth Street Columbus, Georgia
The Elder L. Hicks
Officiating
Favour is deceitful, and beauty is vain: but a woman that feareth the Lor~ shall be praised.
Mrs. Mildred Willis, a loving mother, grandmother, sister, niece and friend, was born March 11, 1923 in Columbus, Georgia. She was the loving and devoted wife of Mr. Undsey Willis who preceded her in death.
Having been raised in the Wynnton area of Columbus, Mrs. Willis matriculated in the Muscogee County School System.
She was a member of the Prosperity Primitive Baptist Church where she served diligently. She was a Committee member where she was known for keeping the kitchen filled with delectable aromas. She enjoyed cooking and serving for the members of the church.
She also enjoyed cooking for the children in the Muscogee School District. Her last tenure was with Eastway Elementary School, retiring after 25 years of faithful service.
Mrs. Willis had a heart of gold. She loved people, especially the children in her neighborhood. It was not a time that she wouldn't welcome a young person who needed a place to live in her home. She shared her love, gave them food and clothing and anything else within her power that was needed to make them feel safe. She was a true child of God.
On Friday, February 1, 2002, God called His child home to rest. She passed at Doctors Hospital. We wish her eternal peace.
Those remembering her love will be: her sons, Charles Jones (Sherri) and Willie Jones, Jr. (Paulette) both of Columbus, Georgia, Alexander Willis of Lithonia, Georgia and Lindsey Willis, Jr. (Emma) of Jacksonville, Aorida,; three daughters, Mae Grace Jones and Janice Lowe, both of Columbus, Georgia and Elizabeth Shelley of New Orleans, Louisiana; nineteen grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; three sisters, Ozeal Lewis and Ruby Harper, both of Columbus, Georgia and Viola Jordan (Charles) of Mattapan, Massachusetts; an aunt, Mrs. Beulah Stafford of Columbus, Georgia; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
