Sheila Delores Wimby Williams, 61, passed away on October 6, 2014 at her home in Atlanta, Georgia. She was born July 21, 1953 in Atlanta, Georgia to the late Willie Roy Wimby and the late Essie Wimby Stephens.
She graduated from J. C. Murphy High School in 1971. After high school she entered the workforce and married Earnest Williams in 1972. Their union produced three wonderful children: Arlethea, Tawanna Williams, Sonya Renita Williams, and Andre Patrick Williams.
At an early age, she was led to become a member of Israel Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend William Smith. She later moved her membership to New Jerusalem Baptist Church, where she served as a devoted choir member. Sheila's passion, outside of her family, was singing. She often traveled to churches around the state, worshipping the Lord with fellow choir members. In later years, she was an instrumental member in the early days of The Last Days Church of God by allowing church services to be held in her living room.
Sheila was preceded in death by her great-grandmother, Inez Beavers; greatgrandfather, William Battle; father, William Roy Wimby; mother, Essie Wimby Stephens; b-rother, David Patrick Wimby; sister, Jacqueline Yvonne Wimby; and former husband, Earnest Williams.
She leaves to cherish her memory: three children: Arlethea Williams of Lithonia, Georgia; Sonya (Reginald) Ward of East Point, Georgia; and Andre (Perdita) Williams of Decatur, Georgia; four siblings: sister, Vickie (Bunnie) Bateman of Stone Mountain, Georgia; brother, Darrell Wimby of D ecatur, Georgia; brother, Casey (Terry) Wimby of Atlanta, Georgia; and sister, Cherita Wimby Joseph of Atlanta, Georgia; eight grandchildren, Andrea Williams, Ashley Williams, Andre Armour, Alexis Williams, Brandon Immel, Jadeca I<ing, Regina Ward, De'Andre Williams; and a host of other family members and friends.
