Celebrating the Spirit of Nellie Fred Carter Williams
Her Life Nellie Fred Carter Williams was born February 25, 1920 to the late L.C. Carter and Carrie Hubbard in Stewart County, Lumpkin, Georgia. She was educated in Lumpkin County Elementary and High Schools. She continued her studies at Fort Valley State College and taught school for 3 years. In 1941 she entered into holy matrimony with Clarence Williams Sr. To this union two sons were born, Clarence C. Williams and Fred Lamar Williams, both of which preceded her in death. In 1946 the couple moved to Atlanta, Georgia. She then began a career at Fulton County Board of Education in food service where she worked until her retirement.
Her family "Nell" was blessed with three loving brothers. Willie C (Agnes) of Waynesboro, Georgia, Arthur T. of Columbus, Ohio, Maurice, the youngest preceded her in death. She served as a mother figure to her brothers. The legacy continued with her three grandchildren. Fredrick, Clarenda, and Sonya and Frederick's close friend Sonya Barnes. Great Grandchildren- Brittany, Ta'Nya, and Chloe Howard, Great Great Grandchild- Cha'Leai, her loving and devoted daughter in-law Eva D. Williams, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends that will miss her dearly.
The Legend Her hobbies included cooking, entertaining, tending to her flowers, and word puzzles. The legend of "Nell" will always dwell in our hearts, for she touched many lives. When we look back over our lives we can truly say we were blessed to have her be a part of our lives. God promised three scores and ten. God gave her four scores and ten plus seven months. She lived and died on Lookout Avenue. The street will never be the same. Yet we all have memories that we will hold in our hearts forever.

Jesus was calling me. So I had to go away. Please understand that I could not stay. Don 't continue weeping and shed idle tears. But, remember the fun we shared and laughter through the years.
Weeping endures for a night, Butjoy comes again with the morning light.
Don 't worry about me for as I traveled the last mile;
Jesus met me and greeted me with a smile. God knew I was tired and called me to rest.
As in His Ultimate Wisdom he knew what was best.
All your cares and worries may now cease. For I am safe in his bosom resting in Peace.
