"Think ofher smiling and happy. She is not dead, she is just away."
On June 9, 1906, the late Mr. & Mrs. Matt (Annie Maude Cook) Smith became the proud parents ofa lovely baby daughter they named Mattie. Born in Newton County, Georgia, she was one oftheir.six children. All have preceded her in death. On December 6, 1998, God called her to eternal
rest. Growing up in Newton County, she attended its public
schools. She was a member ofMurray C. M. E; Church where she served as Stewardess and on the usher board. For many years she worked diligently for the Kirkland Family in Covington, in the capacity ofNanny and housekeeper. She enjoyed taking care ofchildren.
In 1964, she joined the late Mr. John Williams in Holy Matrimony. The newlyweds moved to Buffalo, New York. After her husband's death in 1980, Mattie returned to Atlanta where . she resided with her niece, Lizzie'Ruth.
Mattie will be fondly rememberedfor her sweet disposition and personality and for .her willingness to -help others whenever she could. She loved cooking, gardening and was especially
fond ofher two dogs. She leaves to cherish her memory the following caring
