OBITUARY
John C. Williams, son of the late Annie Ruth Williams was born August 26, 1937, in Atlanta, Georgia. He departed this life Saturday, January 27, 1996.
In April of 1962, John was united in holy matrimony to the late Moszell M. Williams who preceded him in death on March 24, 1995.
John received his elementary and high school education within the Atlanta Public School System. His secondary education included attending New Hampshire State College where he was certified as an instructor of Elementary Education. He received further certification from .the University of Georgia as a radiological monitoring instructor, and the U.S. Fire Administration National Fire Academy as an arson detector for arson investigations.
He was a fireman for the Atlanta Fire Department from 1966 to 1992, and also was a fire apparatus operator instructor. Before becoming a fireman, Williams wore a police officer's badge from 1964 to 1966. In 1966, he became Atlanta's first black corrections officer. As the Safety Inspector for Clark Atlanta University, Williams protected the welfare of students, staff and faculty by responding to University emergencies and safety concerns and keeping campus buildings in compliance with city fire codes. He also conducted safety workshops and investigated fire damage.

Thomas Lodge No. 112; Past High Priest Gate City Chapter No. 9 Holy Royal Arch; Commander No. 4 Knights Templar Mason; Atlanta Consistory No. 24; Grand Inspectory General 33rd Degree; Order of the Eastern Star Ruth Chapter No. 102; Nabbar Temple No . 128 Nozles of the Mystic Shrine; Past Assistant District Deputy Grand Master of Atlanta Masonic District No. 3; Heroines of Jerico Ruth C. No. 11; he was also a member of American Legions Post 911, the only public safety post in the United States.
Those left to rejoice in his memory are two daughters, Cynthia McCambry, Atlanta, Georgia and Mr. and Mrs Micheal Bohannon, Sr. (Teresa) of Grantville, Georgia; three sons, Carl Williams, Michael Williams and Ontario Johnson of Atlanta; four grandchildren, Temica, Tamyia, and Micheal Bohannon, Jr., of Grantville, Georgia and Joan Williams of Miami, Florida; mother-in-law Daizell McCambry of Grantville, Georgia; three sister-in-laws Vernia Arnold, Ann Lois McCambry of Atlanta and Jenet McCambry of Los Angeles, California; brother-in-law Charlie E. McCambry of Richmond, California; a special aunt Dorothy Walker of Atlanta, Georgia and a host of relatives and friends.
