IT's UP To You
God gave you this day to do just as you would, You can throw it away- or do some good.
You can make someone happy, or make someone sad, What have you done with the day you had? God gave it to you to do just as you would,
You can do what is wicked, or do what is good. You can hand out a smile, or just give 'em a frown, You can lift someone up, or push someone down. You can lighten some load, or some progress impede, You can look for a rose, or just gather some weed.
What did you do with your beautiful day? God gave it to you, did you throw it away?

Reflections on
Mrs. Bernice D. Williams' Life
Bernice Douglas Williams was born February 3, 1944 in Daphne, AL. She was the ftfth of eight children born to Jim and Emily Douglas, and was lovingly reared by her parents' brother and sister, Oliver and Letha Douglas. Bernice accepted Christ at an early age when she joined Mt. Aid Baptist Church in Daphne, AL. She spent her life actively serving God. Since 1988, she has been a loyal and faithful member of Cascade United Methodist Church, where she served on various ministries, including Higher Education, Youth Ushers and Hospitality.
Bernice attended the public schools of Baldwin County, AL; received a Bachelor's Degree in Biology from Tuskegee Institute; and was awarded a Master's of Education in Biology from Atlanta University.
In February of 1964, Bernice met Reginald Williams. Their's was love at first sight, and on October, 10, 1964, they were married in Wetumpka, AL. To this union were born three beautiful and talented daughters: Judith, Jacqueline and Brandeis.
Bernice began her career as a teacher in the Atlanta Public Schools in 1965. During breaks in this career, Bernice worked as a real estate agent and founded Bernice's Antiques and Uniques. These were endeavors that Bernice enjoyed, however, she was eventually called back to her profession of teaching; and on Tuesday, August 30, 1994 at Grady High School, Bernice was called home to glory.
Bernice unselfishly contributed her time and effort to many organizations including Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., Rho Zeta Omega Chapter and The League of Women Voters.
Bernice will be remembered for her presence of beauty, charm, and willingness to give everyone a warm smile. While there is no doubt that Bernice loved her fellowman, our most profound experiences of Bernice will be of the "stick-to-it-ness", honesty, and love she invested in Regi,Judi,Jacki and Brandi.
In addition to her husband and daughters, Bernice is survived by her fathers, Jim Douglas and Oliver Douglas; six sisters, Annice (Langdon) Conaway, Mozella Cottrell, Annastein (Harlteen) Stamps, Marian (William) Starks, Edith (Fred) Schumacher and Joyce Young; two brothers, Moses (Verlin) Douglas and William (Betty) Douglas; two sons-in-law, Capt. Dwayne Gatson and Anthony Franklin; and a host of family, friends, and co-workers. She was preceeded in death by her grandmother, Carrie Dade, her mothers Emily Douglas and Letha Douglas and her sister, Othalia Douglas.
