A CELEBRATION OF HER
"DOLL BABY"
422 Merritts Ave., N.E. Atlanta, Georgia 30308

Was born on October 6, 1931, in Atlanta, Georgia to the parents of Jack and Willie Mae Gresham. Dorothy was an only child. She obtained her education from the Atlanta Public School System.
She later met the love of her life, Charles Whitlock, Sr., a Navy Seaman, who adored her so much that he referred to her lovingly as "Doll Baby" for her doll-like beauty. They would soon marry on January 2, 1946 and she became PJJ~!~ ~. Theirs' was a marriage that lasted 44 years. From this union they would bear four girls and one boy, Georgia, Cecelia, Charles, Jr., Shelia and Shirlene.
Dorothy was employed by Scripta, Inc., whose name later changed to Ashbury Ferst, LLC, until she retired after 32 years of dedicated services. She loved her job and was a loyal and dedicated employee.
With an ever expanding family, she was beyond question the matriarch ~nd cornerstone of her family. As with many great families, she was the glue that held things together. In fact, even as her health began to decline, the love of her family was the essence of her being ... the center of her joy. In her last days, she fought to remain with her children because of her love for them.
After weeks without communication, she began her transition by talking to her deceased husband and mother. Then she repeatedly talked about how much she loved her children and did not want to leave them, but she knew the end was near. Finally, she began to have a conversation with God in the Spirit. When her conversation was over with God, she made her heavenly transition into her new life. At that moment, her spirit said like Paul said in 2 Timothy 4:7, "I have fought a goodfight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith. "
To show how richly God blessed her, she leaves to cherish her memory one son , Mr. & Mrs. Charles Whitlock, Jr.; four daughters, Mr. & Mrs. Robert (Georgia) Pritchett, Sr. , Ms. Cecelia Whitlock Robinson, Ms. Shelia Whitlock Slade, and Mr. & Mrs. Darryl (Shirlene) Benton; thirteen grandchildren, Mr. & Mrs. Robert Pritchett, Jr., Mr. &Mrs. James Stafford, Timothy Barker who preceded his grandmother in death; Mr. & Mrs. Elgin Pritchett, Mr. & Mrs. Jerry (Latasha) Newsome, Mr. & Mrs. Roderick Stafford, Mr. Kevin Harley, Mr. & Mrs. Reginald (Eamelle) Winfrey, Mr. & Mrs. Carlos (Lakhesha) White, Mr. & Mrs. Alvin James, Jr., Ms. Shawnta Franklin , Mr. and Mrs. Marlon (Shirrod) Hudson, and Mr. Lawrence C.
