Mrs. Evelyn Chaney White was born December 11, 1932 in East Point, Georgia to the late Mr. and Mrs. Willie Floyd (Julianette) Chaney.
At the tender age of 4 she joined Neriah Baptist Church, where she served as a faithful choir member. She graduated from South Fulton High School and later became employed with Delta Airlines.
Evelyn was an extraordinary, loving and kind person who never complained. She always greeted you with a big smile and a warm hug. She was a devoted mother and grandmother and never met a stranger. AS she would say "May the works I've done speak for me."
In 1950, she was married to Elmer White.
Evelyn was preceded in death by her sister, Mary Lou; and brothers, Kenny and Edward Chaney.
She leaves to cherish her memory: her children, Cofer White, Regina McMullen, Barbara White, Alfred White, Aretha White and LaShawn (Eric) Jacobs; three sisters-n-law, Constance Chaney, Bernice Copeland and Dorothy Byrd; twelve grandchildren, twenty-six great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends .
God saw the road was getting rough The hills were hard to clintb,
He gently closed those loving eyes And whispered, Peace be thine. The weary hours, the days of pain The sleepless nights are passed The ever patient-zuorn out frame Has found sweet rest at last.
