Mrs. Lucile Weston was born August 6, 1917 to the late Georgia Ann Lightner and Walter Willies Askew. She was a member of Second Baptist Church on Connally Avenue under the pastorate of Reverend Mark McCorvey. She was a member of the usher board for countless years until she was unable to attend. She continued her tithes and offering through others and the mail.
Mrs. Lucile Weston was joined in holy matrimony to the late William "Bill" Weston, Sr. on August 24, 1942. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Weston, her oldest son, Robert Lee Lightner, her sister, Luvelle Pattillo, two brothers, Oscar and Raymond Ragland, four grandchildren and three greatgrandchildren.
Mrs. Lucile worked as a housekeeper. She was the matriarch of her family. She loved to attend church, cook and dress, wear her favorite pearls and spend time with her family. She was a resident of the Carver Homes community for 61 years. She never met a stranger. Lucile was a very kind and gentle soul; she had a loving and generous heart, and was always giving to others. She was known to all as the "candy lady". She was a provider, a protector and a caretaker to over 100 of her grandchildren, greatgrandchildren and great-great-grandchildren not to include the community children. She maintained her same phone number for over 60 years and was known throughout the community as "Mama".
She leaves her loving memories to be cherished by her six children, Jimmy Weston (late Paulette), Sallie Mae Thornhill (Jessie, Sr.), William Weston, Jr. (Patricia), Talatha Slade (Howard), Yvette Weston, and Timothy Wayne Weston; twentytwo grandchildren, fifty-five great-grandchildren, twenty-nine great-great-grandchildren; three sisters, Martha Burnelle, Louise Brown, and Mary Duffy; other relatives and friends.
