Elayne Helen West, age 70, (formerly of Bridgeport, Connecticut) earned her crown of jewels on Wednesday, March 9, 2016 in Stone Mountain, Georgia with her children by her side.
Elayne was born on January 2,1946 in Bronx, New York to the late Inez West.
She loved the finer things- a woman who loved to dress, always tasteful. Anyone who knew her knew she loved her shoes- a true uDiva" who will always be remembered.
Elayne was educated in the Bridgeport School System where she graduated from Warren Harding High School. She then relocated to Stamford, Connecticut where she was employed for Sonitrol Security Systems for many years. She also was employed with the Dixwell Community Center in New Haven, Connecticut.
Elayne was a sister, niece, aunt, cousin, friend, and NaNa, but most of all she was a mother to her four children who she loved to life.
Elayne leaves to cherish her memory, two sons, Tyrone West and Thomas West, both of Stone Mountain Georgia; two daughters, Towana West and Yolanda West Hines, both of Bridgeport, Connecticut; ten grandchildren, Kaihyll, Tyisha, ljakie, Tyreese, Taavon, Nyisha, Danyel, Shaneka, Rashiydaa, and Delvon West, fifteen great-grandchildren, one goddaughter, Sonya Jaudon; one sister, Dani (Robert) McLeod; one aunt, Margaret West; five neices, Nicole Matthews, Passion West, Tamara Jackson, Janie Parker, and Tyisha Jackson; one nephew, Jevon Jackson; one son-in-law, Darryl Hines; three special friends, Juanita Owen, Michelle Moore, and Marie Miller; a host of great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, and friends.
In addition to her mother, Elayne was predeceased by her uncle, Leroy West, Sr.; aunt, Viola (naple) Mebane; sisters, Cynthia (deedee) Matthews, Valerie (mama) West, and Jamie (mutt) Jackson; grandsons, Karron West and Kyteese West; and great-nephew, Shaahyid Matthews.
