Christine Benjamin Watts, affectionately known as "Tine" by her siblings and "Chris" by most, was born on May 8, 1950 to parentage of the late Ruben and Gladys Benjamin. Christine was the eleventh of twelve children, five girls and seven boys. Chris attended public school in in Ashburn, Georgia, where she excelled in her academics. She was so smart that she was able to skip a grade and be placed in a higher grade during her early education. Chris loved learning and at a early age decided she would graduate from high school and become a nurse.
Her dedication paid off when she graduated from Eureka High in 1967 with honors. She continued her education by obtaining her nursing degree from Albany Junior College, now Darton College in Albany, Georgia. She later earned many additional certifications to enhance her knowledge in nursing and provide the best patient care possible. During most of her career she worked in Columbus, Georgia, where she had the opportunity to serve in many nursing positions. She did bedside care initially at the Medical Center Hospital in Columbus and eventually became the Head Nurse of the Dialysis Center. She continued her career as the chemotherapy nurse for Dr. Price Walker. Later, she became a nurse for the Muscogee County Health Department. After moving to Atlanta, Georgia in 1999, she continued her career at the Clayton County Health Department, where she became the head of the Children's First Program. As a nurse, Chris was dedicated to providing effective care with love and compassion. Chris retired from the nursing profession, leaving her imprint in the lives of her co-workers and patients.
At an early age, Chris gave her life to Christ and became a member of South Ashburn Holiness Church. Here, the foundation was laid for her to live a Christian life. While at South Ashburn Holiness Church, she was a dedicated student of the bible, learning as much as possible about Jesus Christ. Her thirst for serving the Lord continued well beyond her youth. After moving to Columbus, Chris joined Mount Pilgrim Baptist Church. While at Mount Pilgrim she attended weekly bible study and was the President of the Matron's Circle. Once she relocated to Atlanta, Chris joined Christians For Change Baptist Church where she continued her work for the Lord. While at Christians For Change Baptist, she worked diligently in the Sunday School Department, studying and teaching the word. She served the Lord with commitment, faith, joy, love, and belief in the power of Jesus Christ.

On October 6, 1976, Chris married the love of her life, Benjamin Isaiah Watts. Benjamin was her king and she was his queen. They affectionately called each other "Mama" and "Daddy". Christine and Benjamin were blessed to have two children; a daughter, Freba Adaia and a son, Benjamin Thomas. This God fearing woman was an excellent wife and mother. Chris was a virtuous woman (Proverbs 31: 10-31). She created a home that was filled with godly love. She supported her husband and children in every way possible. While she loved being a nurse, she obtained her greatest joy from the love of Jesus and her family. She leaves to cherish her memories: her husband, Benjamin Watts; her children, Freba Watts and Thomas Watts; three brothers, Willie Edwards (Brenda) Benjamin, Johnny Edward (Marie) Benjamin both of Atlanta, Georgia; Lamar Benjamin of Tallahassee, Florida; two sisters, Mary Liza (Bishop Miles) Latimer of Tennille, Georgia and Lillie Bell Williams of Albany, Georgia; two sisters-in-law, Lenora Benjamin of Tifton, Georgia and Hattie Benjamin of Riverdale, Georgia; one brother-in-law, John Bennett of Tifton, Georgia; along with one aunt, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, godchildren and friends.
Chris led a Christian life of extraordinary joy, love, elegance and faith. During her illness her faith in Jesus Christ and love for others never wavered. During her illness she received many phone calls that were intended to encourage her, however by the end of the conversation the caller would be the one receiving uplifting and encouraging words. Her spirit remained uplifted until God called his angel home on the morning ofJuly 23, 2012.
Lord, help me to live that others mqy be glad I chanced to pass their wqy.
Help me to smile through worry and care, teach me that burdens lighten through prqyer.
Mqy it never be said that I failed to lend
a helping hand to the need ofafriend
Grant that seeing Chnst in others I mqy recognize them as my brothers.
Most ofal4 let me live in TI?; grace,
content with my role in the human race, that when this earth!J life is through,
I mqy share eternity with You.
