I Have A Place In Heaven Please don't sing sad songs for me,
Forget your grief and fears, For I am in a perfect place, Away from pain and tears ... I'm far away from hunger And hurt and want and pride.
I have a place in Heaven With the Master at my side. My life on earth was very good,
As earthly lives can go, But paradise is so much more
Than anyone can know ... My heart is filled with happiness
And sweet rejoicing too. To walk with God is perfect peace,
A joy forever new.

Obituary
Patricia Louise Watkins, 68, transitioned to her eternal home on February 20, 2016. She was
born in Wilmington , NC on October 24, 1946 to Anna Elizabeth Williams and to the late Josey Blue. Often referred to as "Patsy", she graduated in 1964 from Williston Senior High School in Wilmington , NC , where she was in the National Honor Society. She then proceeded on to Fayetteville State University where she earned her Bachelor's degree in 1968. After graduating from Fayetteville State University, she worked as a teacher in Whiteville, NC for one year before moving to Atlanta , GA. After the move, she obtained her Master's degree from Georgia State University.
Upon arrival to Atlanta , she became a member of Ben Hill United Methodist Church , joining the United Methodist Women ; she also became a 'Precious Jewel' of the Jewels and Partners ministry. Loving the Lord Jesus Christ, she engaged herself as a Good Shepherd with Ben Hill United Methodist Church , where she worked devotedly and provided service to those in need .
She joined the teaching profession in Atlanta and became one of the most beloved teachers in the Atlanta Public School System . She was a lively, fun loving , creative , but a stern teacher for over 31 years . She was always the go-to-friendly person, which others looked to for help and guidance. She changed the lives of students by instilling self-confidence. Pat was a mentor, role model , and a strong disciplinarian who had a gift to reach children and ignite the light of learning.
The impact she made was legendary. Her passion for teaching students was God driven. Her huge positive influence on students, parents , and co-workers made teaching and learning seem easy. Her numerous achievements, awards, and recognition put her in the captain 's seat for leadership.
Because she was deeply engaged in the struggle for civil rights and social justice , she became a longstanding member of the Atlanta Federation of Teachers. After retirement, she volunteered her service to several organizations, including APRI and the South Fulton Chamber of Commerce (Ambassador). The rationale for volunteering with Atlanta Federation of Teachers was to ensure that all teachers would gain knowledge , and as a result, students would benefit.
Understanding the power of "the vote ," Pat informed and registered people to vote for many years. She was also a working advocate, ensuring everyone exercised their right to vote.
Her love and generosity will always be remembered as being a gracious and loving mother, daughter, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, and friend. She leaves to remember her teachings , servitude , and to cherish her memory, two wonderful children, who admired and will miss her dearly, Almal and Teneka Watkins ; mother, Mrs. Anna Williams ; brother, Mr. Josey Milton Blue (Janette). Ten grandchildren , two-great grandchildren, and a host of relatives , and faithful friends will truly miss her.
Well done good and faithful servant!
