Sheryl "The Pearl"Vanessa Poindexter Warner was born on May 4, 1957 in Atlanta, Ga.
She attended Collier Heights Elementary School, then entered Frederick Douglass High School. She excelled in Academics, Art, and Music. After graduating born FredcrickDoug1ass High School in 1975, she entered Clark College (currently, ClarkAtlanta University) on a Band SchoJarship where she also played flute and piccolo for the Marching Panthers.
She once again excelled in her studies where she majored in Art Education. While attending Clark College, she pledged and became a member ofAlpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. She also became part ofthe Homecoming Court when she was crowned Miss Sophomore. She remained active with her sororityin the Graduate Chapter of Nu Lambda Omega wh~ she continued to organize and participate in service projects throughout the city. Along with sharing her artistic talents in preparing set designs for Fashionettas, she designed custom handmade AKA pillows that were always in high demand.
After graduating from Clade. CoDege, she married Anthony'Tique'Wamer, to whom she was married for over 28 years. They had two inaedible childRn, Natam and Antryl. She worked as an ArtTeacher for a few years before
accepting a position at FustAdanta Bankwhere she worked for sewn} )'l3"8, afterwhich she accepted a position at Merrill Lynch.
After leaving Merrill Lynch, she starredworking at the United States Postal Service where she worked and served for 30 years. Her most recent position was Front Clerlc.. While at the Post Office, she participated in 5K walks to help raise funds for non-profit mganizations. She would often be called upon to design and make prom, wedding, and special occasion dresses. In addition, she followed in her mother's footsteps by skiJlfuDy making money roses and money shirts.
In her free time, she enjoyed readingbiographies, home designing(having several celebrityclients), collecting records, cooking, and crocheting. She was known for her love for &.mily and &.milygatherings where she would host parties for all occasions, including birthday celebrations, baby showers, barbeques, and Superbowls. She is preceded in death by her mother, Lola Poindexter, who passed away in December of2012. She is survived by her daughter, Natara S. Warner, son, AntryiJ. Warner, father,John W. Poindexter,Jr., brothers,John W. Poindexter, III and Anthony M. Poindexter (Stephanie), sisters, Cynthia E. Poindexter and Valerie P. Bennett (Harold), aunt,Johnnie Simon, uncle, Elijah Simon, Sr., cousins, Elijah Simon,Jr. (TeAnn) and Veleda Simon Cofield, as well as a host ofnieces, nephews, extended family and friends who loved her and who will miss her dearly.
