As Written By Sarah S. Walker
"To everything there is a season and a time to every purpose under the heaven." -Ecclesiastes 3:1
We gather together today to celebrate my home going, Sarah Swarn Walker, as I have been greeted by my Lord and Savior.
A Time To Be Born - Ecclesiastes 3:2 I was born on September 22, 1944 in Monticello, Georgia to the late Grover Jackson and Evelyn Swarn. My early childhood parentage consisted of my late grandmother, Mary Swarn, and later at about 10 or 11 years of age, I was reared by the late Deacon Tommie and Mother Ethel Driskell of Monticello who considered me their own. I came into the Driskell Family by way of my friendship with one of their daughters, my elementary school mate, Ethel. They took me in and gave me a Christian home even after raising 11 children of their own with two still at home - Would you believe they took in one more after 11? It wasn't long before they considered me their child! Thank you Jesus for had it not been for this family, where would I be? We went to Church EVERY Sunday, was involved in Sunday School, BTU and, yes, the choir! By the time I was 11/12 years old, I had become one of the lead soloists in the choir; it seems that nothing pleased Daddy and Mama Driskell more than hearing me sing! From that point on, I was considered one of the Driskell children. I was with this family until completion of high school. I made certain that I always made them proud whether it was my grades, band, basketball, etc. (Mama loved basketball!)
A Time to Love- Ecclesiastes 3:8 After high school I came to Atlanta where Imet the love ofmy life and was united in Holy Matrimony to Tommy L. Walker on November 24, 1965. To this union two daughters were born, Kimberlyn and Tiffany. I believe I was loved and respected by all who had the pleasure of really knowing me as that was the way Mama and Daddy had reared me - to be kind and thrive on helping others. I continued to love the Lord and would witness His goodness and mercy in song through the voice that God blessed me with as a child. Hopefully I will be remembered as a loving wife and mother who cherished my two daughters and five grandchildren. Also, I pray that Iwill be remembered by my generosity, warmth, wisdom, compassion, integrity and love for my family.

A Time to Die- Ecclesiastes 3:2 While I made my transition on March 15, 2017, I pray that the memories never die.
A Time to Weep and a Time to Laugh - Ecclesiastes 3:4 I leave to cherish my memory, my husband, Tommy L. Walker; daughters, Kimberlyn W Hudson and Tiffany W Daniels; ttson" (son-in-law) Donald Daniels; grandchildren, Erin Re', JaRon Tarik, JaNae Kamari, Tyler Simone, and Payton Marie; siblings, Gloria Hendrix (Reginald) of Atlanta, Georgia, Emma Sands (Ernest) and Sue Stone of Monticello, Georgia, Eliza Irving (John), Ethel Griffin (Richard) and Thomas Driskell (Ethel) of Springfield, Massachusetts; one aunt, Frankie Jackson of Monticello, Georgia; special nephew, George Surry (Gwen) of Orlando, Florida; cousins, Leon and Maxine ("Max") Fuller of Macon, Georgia; numerous other nieces, nephews and cousins. Also, eight sisters-in-law who were like sisters to me. Thank you Lord.
Sarah was a leader in the church, in the community, in her daughters' schools, and with their sports' teams. She had a passion for family; especially her grandchildren. She never met a stranger and always helped others in any way she could. She was a faithful Atlanta Falcons fan for over 40 years and reveled in the opportunity to see her home team reach the SuperBowl two times! She traveled all over the country, from Florida to Alaska and every place in between, following the Georgia Lady Bulldogs basketball team where she became known for her often imitated "Georgia Bulldog call."
We will remember her smile, her warmth, her energy, her soulstirring voice, her love of line dancing, those lemon pound cakes and, most of all, her love of the Lord.
