IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Arlena Price Wade was the fifth of twelve children born to the late George and Nellie Price on February 15, 1923 in Butts County Georgia. She confessed Christ as her personal savior at an early age and received her early education and training in the Jackson and McDonough area communities.
She united with Mr. Sherman \'Vade and they were married in 1945. They eventually setded and raised their family in the Pittsburgh and Thomasville Communities of Atlanta, Georgia. They were faithful members of the Antioch Baptist Church South for over sixty (60) years. While they both had limited formal schooling, education was important to them. They sacrificed and encouraged all of their children and grandchildren to finish college. .Mother Wade later united with Unity in Faith Baptist Church and served until her health started to decline.
She was employed by the Atlanta Public Schools as a food service worker. She began her career at Murphy High School; later transferred to Crogman Elementary School and rettnng Dobbs Elementary School after over forty (40) years of service. She took a course in "bread making" at Atlanta Area Technical School and was very proud of her completion and 95 grade. Needless to say, her family was inundated with yeast rolls, and buns of every kind for quite some time.
During her "retirement" years she became very active with the Bethlehem Senior Center where she became immersed in the many activities such as playing bingo, arts and craft. She loved going on the many day trips and excursions. Each year, she enthusiastically looked forward to participating in the ~.fayor's Annual Community Walk and dressing up to attend the Mayor's Annual Senior Ball. She was elated the year she was elected "Queen" of the senior center.
Mother Wade spent the last five years of her life at Christian City Convalescent Center where she was loved and cared for. She delighted in being known as the "lvfiss Best Dressed" resident \vith her coordinated outfits, matching socks and hair bows.
Mother Wade was ushered into His presence on Tuesday, June 18, 2013. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Maggie, Marie, Lucille, Flossie, Ruth and Rebecca; brothers, George, Edgar and Robert. She leaves to cherish a lifetime of memories her devoted children, Arthur \'Vade, Christian City; Forrest (Ann) \'Vade, Peachtree City, Georgia; Carolyn \'Vade Thorpe, Augusta, Georgia; Beverly Wade, Conley Georgia, and Sherman Wade, Jr., Atlanta, Georgia; grandchildren - Angel (Peter) Okrah, Chandler, .Arizona; Forrest (Claudia) Wade, Jr. of Phoenix, Arizona; Brandon (Princess) Thorpe, Atlanta, Georgia and Tiffany Morris, Nashville, Tennessee; five (5) greatgrandchildren; brothers- Isaiah (Alberdia) Price, Chicago, Illinois; Charlie Price, Marina, California; sister-in-law, Marian Price, Warren, Ohio and a host f nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She will always be remembered for her infectious smile and her love for giving to others.
