Atlanta, GA 30331 Reverend Darrell C. Thomas, Officiating Pastor, Love Fellowship Christian Church

Wade Jacob Turnipseed was born on February 11, 1921, to the late Mr. Jeff Davis I urnipseed and Mrs. Queen Mary Turnipseed in Clayton County, Georgia.
Mr. Turnipseed was a veteran who proudly served his country as a member of the Army during WWII. He used to read to and write letters for his fellow soldiers who
could not do so.
Returning home after active duty, despite having only a sixth grade education, he put his entrepreneurial spirit into action at an early age, building his first house for less than two hundred dollars. Over the years, his business grew into W. J. Turnipseed Construction Co. which built the house in which he raised his family, as well as, the church they attended, now known as Old Mt. Nebo. His business foresight led him to begin acquiring rental properties that would provide a housing option for individuals with low to moderate income. He later ventured into the businesses of owning a grocery and rolling store.
Although he had a sharp tongue and a never-ending sense of humor, he respected and honored the Lord through his church attendance at Mt. Nebo Baptist Church,
where he was a member of the Male Chorus and served on the Deacon Board,
under the leadership of Rev. P. J. Dotson. Many years later when his daughters joined Love Fellowship Christian Church, he would visit and developed a relationship with the pastor, Rev. Darrell C. Thomas.
Mr. Turnipseed enjoyed having cookouts with his family; always ready to throw ribs on the grill and have everyone over. It was family to which he devoted his life, where he excelled as a provider and a positive role model. He will truly be missed.
He leaves to cherish his memory three daughters, Angela T. Allison, Malinda Gail (Anthony) Molock and Cassandra Marie Turnipseed; four sisters, Mrs. Virginia Woods, Mrs. Velma Lee, Mrs. Essie Tolbert and Mrs. Winifred Woodley; one brother, Mr. Arthur R. (Yvonne) Turnipseed; a host of grandchildren, devoted nieces, nephews, family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mrs. Marie Shivers Turnipseed and daughter, Janet Yvette Turnipseed
Jackson.

He liked to watch the thunder storms, normal people thought were frightening, It was a minor miracle, that he was never struck by lightning, He really did love nature, and watching animals in the sun
You found how he really loved them, when he said. Go GET MY GUN! Competitive king to say the least, he sat upon the throne,
Called his competition Hamfats" when he said Go GET THE BONES!
If you're asking what the bones were, I'm sure now heaven knows. They're what he used to call the pieces, for the game of Dominoes.'
As HE WALKED THE ROADS OF HIS LONG LIFE, OF WHICH THERE WERE SO MANY, His eyes would scan these barren paths, as he searched the ground for pennies:
Once Leroy found a penny first, and said, "I beat you this time:" Undeterred, he searched right on... 'til he yelled, "I found a dime:
He liked to go out fishing, but disliked fixing his boat. And so just as you guessed, one day, the boat refused to float. As THE SHIP FILLS UP WITH WATER, FAMILY BAILING FAST AS THEY CAN.
Mr. Turnipseed remained so calm and guided tliem to land: After that, he chose to cruise, with his boat he did not bother. He knew tlie next cruise on that boat would be Wade in the Water. If HE SENT YOU TO THE CORNER STORE, YOU LEARNED AFTER ONE TIME
TO GIVE HIM ALL HIS CHANGE BACK, EVEN IF IT WAS A DIME! He COULD CALL YOU ON YOUR BIGGEST FAULTS, AND MAKE YOU WANT TO FIGHT.
But somehow you would end up laughing, at yourself that night. We thank you sir for the memories, as we bid you adieu,
You MAY BE GONE, BUT NEVER FORGOTTEN, WE WILL ALWAYS LOVE YOU!
