Henry Fremon Turner was born March 15, 1913, the eleventh of twelve children born to Rufus and Fanny Turner of Dawson, Georgia.
In 1924, he came to Detroit, Michigan with his family and attended Detroit Public Schools. Henry was a graduate of Miller High School.
Henry demonstrated hi~ faith in Christ becoming a member ofNew Calvary Baptist Church.
Henry was employed by the City of Detroit where he worked for the Department of Streets and Railways as well as the Recreation Department. He retired in 1977 after 34 years of faithful service.
Henry departed this life September 10, 2002. He leaves to cherish his memory: a devoted wife of 45 years, Mary Ruth; four sons, Clyde (Gwendolyn), Claude (Mae), Harold (Cynthia), Henry (Sandra); one daughter, Gina Watson (Willie); twenty-one grandchildren; a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other family and friends.
A precious one from us has gone A voice we love is still
A place is vacant in our home Which can never be filled
And after a lonely heartache And many a silent tear
But always a beautiful memory Of one we love so dear.
