Mothers Never Really Die They Just Keep House Up In The Sky!
Death beckoned her with an outstretched hand, And, whispered softly of "AN UNKNOWN LAND."
But, she was not afraid to go
For, though, the path, she did not know.
She took DEATH'S HAND without a fear
For he who, safely, brought her here
Has told her He would lead the way
Into ETERNITY'S BRIGHT DAY...
And, so, she did not go alone
Into the "VALLEY THAT'S UNKNOWN"--
She, gently, took DEATH BY THE HAND
And, there, with step, so, light and gay,
She polishes the sun by day
And, lights the stars that shine at night,
And, keeps the moonbeams silvery bright...
For MOTHER'S, really, never die,
They just "KEEP HOUSE UP IN THE SKY" ...
And, in the HEAVENLY HOME ABOVE ...
They wait to "WELCOME" those they love!!

Bernice M. Turner was the oldest child of the late Walter Hayes McAfee and Alma Walker McAfee, born June 18, 1938 in Atlanta, GA. She departed this life on Saturday, March 26, 2011.
Bernice joined Shady Grove Baptist Church at an early age, and was a member of the choir. Bernice was an excellent singer, and often performed solo during concerts. Bernice was also a musician for several churches. She later joined Providence Missionary Baptist Church where she attended until her death. Bernice married Jesse Lee Turner and to this union was born two sons, Jesse (Flip) Turner, and Antonio (Shorty) Turner.
Bernice was a very proud member of the "Magnificent Ladies Social Club". These ladies were "Sister Sledge" without a record deal. When they got together, the evening started out slow, with a lot of hugging and "Hellos". When the clock struck 10:00 PM, all of a sudden the room came alive. It was loud, with a lot of laughing, and yelling, and Bernice saying "gone back upstairs", because the "meetings" usually took place in someone's basement. These ladies were also "other Mothers" to her sons, because when one of them told you to do something; you had better do it, especially if it came from "Miss Joan".
Bernice enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She enjoyed word puzzles, wakhing Days of Our Lives, and playing "Crazy 8s", "Uno", and "Old Maid" with her granddaughters. Bernice also enjoyed making contributions to tha Hope Scholarship Fund. Bernice was an honorary employee of BeiiSouth, because she always had a phone up to her ear.
Bernice is survived by her sons, Jesse (Stacy) Turner, Antonio Turner, two granddaughters, Jada and Kira, and a nephew, Cornelius Phillips. She is also survived by two aunts, Lois Beasley, of Washington, D.C., and Addie Fitzpatrick, of Atlanta, GA., cousins, DeShawn Ashe, Juanita Bommer, Patricia Lambert, Charles Bulger, Eloise Jones, and Ruth Jacobs, her lifelong friends Mary and Addison Williams, Robert Byrd, family friend Cathy Davis and goddaughter Brittany Davis.
