Mrs. Bessie Travis was born March 20, 1896 to the late Sanford and Lillie Blalock in Fayette County, Georgia.
She joined Mallalieu United Methodist Church at an early age and was active until she became ill. She was active in the Women' s Society of Christian Service and a charter member of Union Society Lodge of East Point, Georgia.
She married James Travis, to their union, were eight children. She lived to be one hundred (1 00) years old.
On June 1, 1996, she departed this life to be with our Heavenly Father. She leaves to cherish her memory: three (3) daughters, Mrs. Emora James, Mrs. Emnia Pearl Jackson and Family, and Mrs. Betty Maddox and Family; one (1) son, Mr. Frank I. Travis and family (Gwendolyn); one (1) son-in-law, orman Tigner; thirteen (13) grandchildren, Virgil, Melanie, Stephanie Maddox, Katrina Wilson, Doiche Travis, Nicole Adams~ Nunally Tigner, Teresa Reid, Vivian Jewel, Victor Fielder, Morris Gary II, Toni Travis, Carmen Kemp, and the Seabrook children; twenty-two (22) great grandchildren, seven (7) great-great grandchildren.
