Perhaps you sent a lovely card, Or sat quietly in the chair,
Perhaps you sent some lovely flowers, If so, we saw them there.
Perhaps you spoke the kindest words That a friend could say.
Perhaps you were not there at all, Just thought of us that day,
Whatever deed done, great or small, Helped to lessen our burdens.

Obituary
Mrs. Ora Merle Tolbert was born September 24, 1916 in Lithonia, GA to the late Cleoria Johnson and Walter Venable. During her youth she attended Lithonia Colored School and also joined Antioch Lithonia Church at an early age.
In her early career, she served as a certified welder at Ford Motor Company in Detroit, MI during World War II when women were called to work in the place of the men who were fighting in the military.
Ora Merle, as she was fondly known, met and married the late George Walter Tolbert and they resided in Lithonia, GA.
She participated at Antioch Baptist Church as an usher and served on the mother's board until her health started to fail.
She loved to cook and enjoyed much of her time as a caregiver to her family. She kept in touch daily with all her friends informing them of the latest news.
She peacefully entered into eternal rest on March 3, 2011. Ora Merle leaves to cherish her memories two sons; Deacon AI (Diana) Venable of Lithonia, GA and Pastor Walter "Glenn" (Gladys) Tolbert of Stockbridge, GA. Two stepdaughters Georgia Ruth Gohagan and Eddie Mae Riley both of Cleveland, OH. One sister, Aris Gay of South Euclid, OH. One sister-in-law Nellie Grace Jackson of Decatur, GA; eight grandsons; five grand-daughters; a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
WHEN I MUST LEAVE YOU
When I must leave you for a little while, Please go on bravely with a gallant smile;
And for my sake, and in my name, Live on and do all things the same. Spend not your life in empty days, But fill each waking hour in useful ways. Reach out your hand in comfort and in cheer, And I in turn will comfort you and hold you near.
