Don't' grieve for me, for now I'm free I'm following the path God laid for me, I took His hand when I heard Him call
I turned my back and left it all. I could not stay another day
To laugh, to love, to work or play. Tasks left undone must stay that way I found that peace at the close of day.
If my parting has left a void
Then fill it with remembered joy.
A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss. Ah yes, these things, I too will miss. Be not burdened with time of sorrow. I wish you the sunshine of tomorrow. My life's been full, I savored much, Good friends, good times, A loved one's touch. Perhaps my time seemed all to brief, don't lengthen it now with undue grief. Lift up your hearts and peace to thee.
God wanted me now, He set me free.

Jessie Pearl Lindsey Thomas was a virtuous woman. She was born March 15, 1912 to the late Mr. and Mrs. Will (Mary Jane Flynt) Lindsey in Atlanta, Georgia. She was preceded in death by her parents and her only brother, Mr. Henry Lindsey. Jessie Pearl Lindsey attended schools in the public school system. As a young woman Jessie met the love of her life and married the late Reverend Charles Wesley Thomas on November 24, 1951 and was forever called "Sister Thomas." Sister Thomas was the First Lady of Appalachee Baptist Church for 25 years and the First Lady of Shiloh Baptist Church for 31 years.

At an early age, Jessie joined the church. An elegant First Lady, she was faithful and was always a loving and devoted wife and church Mother. Her tongue became an instrument of praise for the God that kept her body in good health and in her right mind for 96 years.

Never idle she was busy gathering groups together for Choir programs, programs for the youth, and always busy with various church fundraisers. Her home was a haven of love, she was forever baking and preparing things in the home the way Reverend would like them.
