Obituary
Rodney, known to many as "Scratch" Taylor, was born to the union of Herbert "Butch" and Helen Gainey Taylor in Toledo, OH on A_pril 26, 1968. He passed away on Monday, April 9, 2012 at Emory University Hospital in Atlanta, GA. Rodney attended St. Phillips Lutheran Elementary School, Collingwood Learning Center Old West End Jr. High SchoOl and graduated from Jesup W. Scott High School in 1986. While at Scott, Rodney_played football, oasketball, and ran track. He went on to Defiance College and graduated from Eastern Michigan University 1n 1990 with a aegree in business administralion. Rodney played football
while attending both Defiance and E. M. CJ.
Following graduation, while still in Toledo, he worked as a disc jocke~ with a local F. M. radio station, as well as a counselor for troubled children at St. Anthony's Villa. On August 10 1996, Rodney married Patricia "Patti" Stinson at St. Martin Deporres Church in Toledo. To that union, one child, Jared L. Taylor, was born. After relocating to Atlanta, GA, he worked for Lanier Corp. Prior to his death, Rodner was emRioyed with the State of Georgia at the Departmen of Labor for over 10 years in the lnlormation Technology Division. Rodney was an avid music enthusiast who loved all types of mus1c. He was the proud owner and CEO of Way Upstairs Productions, a mixing, recording, and production company, where he was known as "Mr. Scratch" engineer, producer, and D. J. His motto was, "Take your mix to the next level." He also like working with children and coaching football. Rodney was preceded in death by his father, Herbert "Butch Taylor, and his Taylor ancf Gainey grandparents. He is survive oy his son, Jared Taylor; mother, Helen Taylor, brother ancffriend, Re_ginald Stacey (Melissa) Taylor; former wife, Patricia "Patti" Taylor; nephews, Vincent Tooles, Jameel and Joshua Taylor; and several aunts; uncles; cousins; and other relatives and friends.
