Lucy Kate Talley was the eldest child and only daughter of eight
children by the late Idus and Lottie Moss. She was born in Chipley, Georgia in 1915. She answered God's call on March 8, 2001. She was the last of the eight to depart this life, just two days after her brother Hubert Moss.
Lucy Kate married the late Cody L. Talley and they were blessed with ten children. Cody and five of the children preceded her in death. She gave her life to God at an early age and was a member of the Solomon Grove Baptist Church. Her family moved to East Point, Georgia in the 1940's where she joined Siloam Baptist Church. She loved the Lord, she loved her church, and she was a faithful servant to the end. She organized and served as the first president of the Pastor' s Aide Club. She was also a member of the Hyacinth Club, The Rose of Sharon, Usher Board, and The White Rose Club.
Lucy Kate was a strong-willed and determined lady with a great sense of pride. One of her favorite sayings was "God loves a cheerful giver ", and she gave much to so many. She leaves many loved ones to cherish her me1nories: one son, Mr. and Mrs. Willie Floyd Talley (Dreamlyn) of Gilbert, Arizona; four daughters, Dr. Rena T. Jones, Shirley M. Cameron, Mr. and Mrs. Oscar R. Cantrell (Katie), and Ceretha Ann Beavers; son-in-law, James C. Hill; fifteen grandchildren, Sylvester, Robert, Eugene, Debra, Charlie Mae, Reba, Shandra, Joanne, Corliss, Stevie, Andre, Tori, Willie, Chekki, and Lamont; twenty-six great-grandchildren; five great-great grandchildren; jive sisters-in law, Bessie Moss, Gladys Moss, Helen Moss, Diane Moss, and Freddine Moss; one aunt, Mrs. Lula Walker; four surrogate children, Charles Barlow, Willie Berry, Ann Miles, Charles Barker; one dear, sister-like cousin, Eunice Watson of Detroit, Michigan; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends of the family.
