On Friday, August 31, 2007, our beloved son, brother, father, stepfather, uncle and soul mate, David Lee Swinson, slipped into eternal rest.
David was a graduate of Booker T. Washington High School, Norfolk, Virginia. He served in the United States Navy in a Fighter Squadron in Vietnam for 13 years. David was Honorably Discharged. He was employed with American Roofing Company for several years until his illness.
He was a member of the Basilica of St. Mary for many years and a d dicated usher for about 15 years.
Affectionately loved by both family and friends, David is predeceased by his parents, Buster and Alice Swinson, Bertha Mackey-Swinson, sister Harriet J. Montgomery, brothers Marcus Swinson, Sherman Swinson, Sidney Swinson, Leroy Mackey, Earl Mackey and Vernie L. Mackey.
Left to cherish his memory is a daughter, Davette (Andre) Burford of Virginia. Beach; three sisters, Jeanette (James) Carr of Chesapeake, Shirley Swinson of Virginia Beach, and Lucille Ferabee ofNorfolk; two brothers, Reginald "Tinker" Swinson of Norfolk and Raymond Mackey of Snowhill, North Carolina; a soul mate of 23 years, Carolyn Williams of No~olk; an aunt, Louise Swinson; three grandchildren, ten stepgrandchildren, ten great grandchildren; a guardian angel, Shakita; a loving brother-in-law, "Florida Boy"; his stick buddy "Frenchie", who took special care of him and a host of loving relatives and friends.
