Oliver Roland Sueing, born May 17, 1950 was the son of Bennie Westbrook Wilson and Charles Albert Sueing, Sr. (December 20, 1926 - May 10, 1994). An honors graduate of George Washington Carver High School in Memphis, Tennessee, he served as Student Council President, ROTC Battalion Commander in command for five city schools; he was also a choir soloist. His vocal gift was recognized early on by his mother, a music teacher, pianist and outstanding singer in her own right. She enrolled him in formal voice training when he was fifteen years of age under the tutelage of Madame Adria Brunati. Away from school, he was an Eagle Scout and a Certified Swimming Instructor.
After graduating from Carver, Oliver was accepted at Morehouse College and immediately joined the Morehouse College Glee Club under the baton of Dr. Wendell P. Whalum. While at Morehouse, Sueing became a member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity; and was awarded a Charles E. Merrill Overseas Travel Scholarship to study in Vienna, Austria (1971-1972 academic year). There, he enrolled in the Institute for the International Education of Students (IES), and was accepted into the Vienna Academy of Music where he studied voice, joined the Jetmess Core and performed in Jerome Kern's Show Boat with the renowned Vienna Volksoper featuring international opera bass-baritone William Warfield.
Before returning to the States, Oliver R. Sueing met and married Pamela Blackey (O'Brien) in 1972. To that union was born Jessica Alexis Sueing now married to Vincent Salerno. Sueing returned to Atlanta and continued his music career as a much-in-demand tenor soloist while working for the City of Atlanta Watershed Management. His career highlights during this period included singing with the Atlanta University Community Chorus "The Impossible Dream" at the Inauguration of President Jimmy Carter, January 20, 1977; and singing under the baton of Maestro Robert Shaw and the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra as tenor soloist for more than nine years. Oliver relocated to Nashville, Tennessee (1977) as a Pharmaceutical Sales Representative for Pfizer, Inc . During this time , he sang with the Grammy Award winning Bobby Jones and The New Life Singers on the Nashville Gospel Television Show. He also traveled with Bobby Jones on a trip of a lifetime to Israel; this had a very profound impact on the singer's life. Oliver
R . Sueing and Sharon J. Willis wer e married from 1978 to 2010 and to that union w ere born Adrian Willis
Sueing and Amarylis Jend~ Sueing, both excellent musicians. By 1988 , Sueing had been hired by Glaxo and became the President of the National Association of Professional Pharmaceutical Representatives, a group founded by Art Terry of the Wyeth Chapter and other black representatives to mentor others in expanding their careers. His friend Det Treadwell became the President of the Pfizer Chapter. This organization transformed the career options for hundreds of African American Pharmaceutical Representatives.
Sueing had an affinity for languages and spoke fluent German acquiring this talent while a Merrill Scholar overseas studying with Herr D . Weiskopf, professor. He also spoke French; and learned enough Hebrew that the Israeli flight attendants assumed that he spoke it fluently because he spoke in the native accent as he did German and French.
Oliver performed solo orchestral renditions with the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra, the Columbus Georgia Symphony Orchestra, Emory University, as well as a number of opera companies: Opera South, The Georgia Opera Company, Phoenix Opera Company and Americolor Opera. By special request, he sang at the funeral of Mayor Maynard Holbrook Jackson (March 23, 1938 - June 23, 2003); and the funeral of the

esteemed Morehouse College President Emeritus and Atlanta School Board Chairman, Benjamin Elijah Mays (August 1, 1894 - March 28, 1984). Oliver sang with several professional ensembles including the
Ascendants (Fannie E. Ross, Sharon J. Wilhs and Richard Morton) who in 1985 sponsored the National Tribute
Event for Civil Rights Advocate and Baptist Preacher, the Rev . Dr. Ralph David Abernathy (March 11, 1926 - April 17, 1990) who worked very closely with Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.; and Ensemble Jubalate, Solo Quartet (Sharon J. Willis, Kimberly Edwards-Hall, and Ohver Greene). The Ensemble traveled to Rome and sang at Saint Peter's Basilicas in June of 1999. In 1995, after watching the Three Tenors: Domingo,
Carreras and Domingo, Dr. Sharon J. Willis had the idea of organizing The Three 'Inspirational' Tenors
with Oliver R . Sueing, Ralph Freeman, and Samuel Hagan and long-time friend Harding Epps, Sr. as the piano accompanist. The classically trained tenors focused on Christian music as their repertoire. The group was very successful and traveled to Rome singing in Saint Peter's Basilicas in 1999 . Their premier recording entitled "Ole Time Religion" was released in 2007 with the title song being arranged by Willis.

As a professed man of faith, Oliver R. Sueing always had a profound connection with the Church Community beginning with Metropolitan Baptist, his home church in Memphis, Tennessee, followed by
Ben Hill United Methodist Church during the pastoral leadership of Dr. Comelius Henderson; Hoosier
Memorial United Methodist Church; New Life Presbyterian Church; and fmally reconnecting with his Baptist denomination through First Baptist Church of East Point (formerly the Fellowship Group) during Dr. Emmanuel McCall's leadership . His music ministry was far reaching and all inclusive as he was a regular guest at Central Baptist Church in Newnan, Georgia, Dr. Joel Richardson, Pastor; was presented in concerts at Newnan Presbyterian Church, Dr. Harry Barrow, Pastor during the 1990' s; he also traveled to Merida, Mexico with Newnan Presbyterian Church on one of their many Missionary trips where he was presented in recital. From November of 2002 until his death, Oliver served as cant or for St. John Neumann Catholic Church in Lilburn, Georgia, Mr. Thom as Van Soelen, Music Coor dinator.

O liver R . Sueing, in his later career, served as an Educational Advisor Recruiter for DeVry University and before retiring in 2012 earned a Masters of Business Administration from Keller Graduate School of Management. After retiring, he loved playing golf, swimming and grilling on his Green Egg. He also began gardening, a hobby that was inspired by his mother's green thumb and his aunt, Juanita "Nee' Nee" Stanback (February 13, 1927 - April 1996). In December of 2013 he married Joann Hightower; they lived in Sharpsburg, Georgia until his death. O liver R . Sueing was a man who loved and supported his children and m entored many others in his own special w ay.
