The Reverend Dr. Toussaint K. Hill, Jr., Pastor Officiating
Joy Sandra Storey, the second of five siblings, was born August 29, 1945 in Atlanta , Georgia to Marion and David Howard. Both parents, and a sister, Sharon Harper, preceded her in death.
Joy was educated in the Atlanta public schools. She dedicated her life to Christ at an early age and was a former member of Holy Temple Baptist Church.
She was a mother of three children. Her son, Louis Storey, Jr., preceded her in death.
Joy was an exceptional cook and baker. Anytime you entered her home there was something cooking, a cake or pie and you were always welcome to partake of whatever she had. Her employment included catering, a cook at a local elementary school, hotel banquet service , and supervisor of housekeeping, and private home housekeeper and caregiver.
During her declining health, Joy moved into the Abernathy Towers on February 19, 2001. She attended Abernathy Towers Thursday Night Service where she sang in th e Angelical Choir. Joy was also Vice President of the Tenant Association.
She attended services and events prior to joining the church family of West Hunter Street Baptist Church on July 30, 2006 .
Our heavenly Father called her home on October 14, 2006. She leaves to cherish her memory and love, daughters, Bonita Evans and Sonya Love; grandchildren , Tremayne Evans , Shikata Evans, and Demarco Storey; greatgrandchildren, Deiontavious Evans and Tiserney Evans; sister, Carolyn Harris ; brothers, Munir F. Muhammad (Nanette) and John E. Harris; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and special friends .
