Rebecca Phyllis Jackson Stephens was born on November 8, 1920, to the late Mr. & Mrs. Frank Jackson of Luverne, Alabama.
She spent her early childhood and school years in Lake City, Florida. Later moving to Atlanta, Georgia.
She joined the Shiloh Baptist Church, where she served faithfully until moving with the late Rev. J. H. Jordan and others to form The True Light Baptist Church. She served on the Usher Board No. 1 until her health declined.
She retired from the Atlanta Public School System after working there thiry-four years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jackson Stephens and her devoted granddaughter, Lazanyta Faith Patterson.
She leaves to cherish her memory one daughter, Bertha Rucker-Scott; one granddaughter, Mr. & Mrs. Eugene (Phyllis) Slaughter; one grandson, Rev. Leonard Patterson; two great-grandsons, Mr. & Mrs. Philip (Erika) Slaughter a.Ftd Brandon Patterson; one great-great-granddaughter, Emerald Wells; The Merald and Vinson Family; and a host of friends and extended church family.
