Legacy of Life
Paul Stephens was born to the late Mr. & Mrs. Fletcher and Clara Estes Stephens on Thursday, February 9th, 1939 in LaGrange, Troup County, Georgia. On Tuesday, February 17 at the tender age of 76, his earthly journey was completed.
At a very early age, Paul was baptized and became a member of Leete Hill United Methodist Church. In 1958, Paul graduated from East Depot Street High School, LaGrange, Troup County, Georgia. While attending EDHS he was an outstanding athlete.
He married the late Mattie Ruth Jennings and was blessed with a devoted son and daughter.
While in LaGrange, he worked at West Point Pepperell Mill. He later moved to Atlanta where he worked in the food service arena. He was employed by the Coca-Cola Company where he worked until his retirement in 1993, after 25 years of service.
In 1994, Paul joined the New Beginning Full Gospel Baptist Church, Decatur, Georgia and remained an active and loyal member until his soul was called to rest.
Paul was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters: Bertha Mae (Willie H) Walker, Sr., and Dorothy Jean Flowers: and five brothers, Thomas Swanson, Buck Swanson, Ralph Stephens, Robert Stephens and Lucius Stephens.
Paul leaves to cherish his memories his beloved children: Anthony D. (Lisa) Stephens, Douglasville, GA and Chinaester P. (Harold) Holland, Atlanta, GA; seven grandchildren, Julian Santiago, Kennesaw, GA, Shanesta D. Stephens, Washington, DC, Stephanie D. Stephens, Minneapolis, MN, Ashley B. Holland and Victoria E. Holland, Atlanta, GA, Natalia Santiago, Douglasville, GA, Audrey B. Webb, Minneapolis, MN; two nephews, Willie (Chantis) Walker, Jr., and Orlando Jones; four nieces, Barbara Ann (Marion) Tucker, Patricia Strong, Premlata Millen and Shelley Billings; five sisters-in-law, Doris Witcher and Iradean Heard of LaGrange, GA, Linda M. Jennings, Denise (William) Copeland, and Deborah Jennings, Atlanta, GA, Godchildren: Cheryl Derrio and Scottie Harvey and a host of great and grand nieces and nephews; a family of special friends that includes: Bobby Horn, Nathaniel Pullins, Olivia Mosley, Mr. & Mrs. Askew, Myrtle Dansby, W Pearl Jackson and Archie Lunsey.
