Our Gratitude
&
Appreciation
We the family of Martha Sue Spencer are truly grateful to all of our family and friends who have comforted us with your words of consolation. There is such a comfort in the assurance that we are not alone in this hour of bereavement; and that assurance is made manifest by the warm and sincere expressions of care and concern each of you have exemplified especially through your fervent prayers, personal visits, food and tangible gifts, telephone calls, messages, flowers cards and your presence here today. You have truly been an earthly example of the love and compassion that Jesus showed, and may God richly bless each of you for you sharing and caring.

Martha Sue Spencer, fondly called Sue, daughter of Dazell and Pauline Lee, began the journey of life on October 1, 1953 in Gadsden, Alabama. On the morning of April29, 2012, God unzipped the clouds dispatching an angel to escort Sue to her eternal home. Sue was removed from pain, suffering and uncertainty into eternal peace. Her father, Dazell Lee and grandmother, Annie Mae Adams, preceded her in death. Sue acknowledged Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age in Gadsden, Alabama. After moving to Atlanta, she was a faithful and committed member of Ben Hill United Methodist Church where she served as Children's Ministry Chairperson and Confirmation Coordinator for many years, developing spiritual growth in children and youth including her own. Sue attended Saint Martin De Porres Catholic Elementary School and graduated from Gadsden High School in 1971. She later matriculated at Tuskegee University in Tuskegee, Alabama. During her life she was employed and worked diligently for Honeywell, Georgia Power, U.S. Postal Service, United Parcel Service, Spelman College, Interdenominational Theological Center, Ben Hill UMC and lastly Delta Air Lines. Those who knew Sue knew she loved God , life, her husband, family and friends. She was unloving and her laughter was contagious. She enjoyed cooking, catering, hosting, event planning, dancing and entertaining her beloved family and friends. She actively coordinated a team and participated in the American Cancer Society Making Strides Breast Cancer Walk. Continuing to celebrate her life through cherished memories, Sue leaves her loving, supportive and devoted husband of thirty years, Larry; her mother, Mrs. Pauline Lee; sons, Marlon, Runako and Joshua Spencer; daughter, Mesi Spen~er; grandsons, Toure', Kieran, Kenneth and Quinten Spencer; granddaughter, Nhari Houston; sisters, Joan Hutchinson, Paula Lee and Dolores Lewis. She also leaves to cherish her memory, her mother-in-law, Mrs. Evelyn Spencer; brothers-in-law, Artis Spencer (Sharon) and Frederick Spencer (Sarah); sister-in-law, Patricia McCord (Moses); loving nieces and nephews, other relatives, many devoted friends who cared for and assisted her, the Passenger Refunds Department at Delta Air Lines, other colleagues and the Ben Hill United Methodist Church family.
