and the late Chester Rogers. Gloria was raised in the St. Peters AME Church. She graduated from David T. Howard High School in 1949, Atlanta, Georgia. On April 7, 1951 she married Odell Smith, Jr. To this union five children were born. A virtuous woman best describes Gloria's character. She was a loving wife and a very devoted mother to her five children.
Gloria joined Ben Hill United Methodist Church in the mid 70's. She was very active in the Couples in Christ Sunday School Class and the Jewels and Partners. Gloria loved to travel, work on jigsaw puzzles and spent time socializing with family and friends.
She embarked upon a retail career in the mid 70's, starting with J.P. Allen, Casual Corners and Macy's Department Store where she retired in 1992. Gloria always stayed busy. She went back to work for Gibson Greeting Cards and for Capitol City Bank Financial Department until her illness. She was a dedicated charter member and treasurer of the Continental Society Incorporated for many years.
Gloria is survived by her devoted husband of 61 years, Odell Smith, Jr.; three sons, Kerry Smith, Gregory Smith and Anthony Smith, Sr.; two dau ghters, Audrey Smith-Paige and Angela Smith; daughter-in-law, Sharron Smith; former son-in-law, Roderick (Bobby) Paige, Sr.; six grandchildren, Amy Gray, Otavia Paige, Roderick Paige, Jr., Anthony Smith, Jr., Jenee Smith and Shacole Smith; five great-grandchild ren, Destiny Gray, John Gray, Aliyah Smith, Robert Anthony, Jr., Makai Paige and a host of relatives and friends.
