Mother Elnora Patillo Smith was born June 20, 1912 in Lovejoy, Georgia Clayton County to the late Johnny and Annie McGioseley Patillo. She departed this life on October 30, 2006.
Mother Elnora was educated in the Clayton County School System. She embraced Christ at an early age and joined Ridge Grove AME Church, and served faithfully for many years. After moving to Jonesboro, Georgia she united with Shiloh Baptist Church and immediately began working with the Sunday School, Choir, Willing Workers Club and the Mothers' Board.
Mother Elnora was united in matrimony to the late Avish Smith, Sr. To this union three sons were born. Her youngest son Alfonsa preceded her in death.
Mother Elnora was employed by Ft. Gillem and the Clayton County Board of Education. After retirement from the Board, she decided to go into business by opening a cafe that was very successful.
Mother Elnora was one of God's greatest Masterpieces. We are thankful that she was a part of our lives. Memories will remain forever with her two devoted sons: Deacon Bernard Smith (Betty) and Mr. Avish Smith (Jean); five grandchildren; Mr. Gregory D. Smith (Cynthia), r. Alfonsa Smith, Jr. (Tamara), Mr. Michael Smith, Ms. Adrian Price and Ms. Sabrina Neeson; nine great grandchildren; Gregory J. Smith, Gerald M. Smith, Marcia Price, Yusel Onque, Nicholas Singleton, Jonathan Price, Garrison Smith, Gina N. Smith and Aris Smith.

If I have put a spark ofhope within a helpless soul, Or helped one struggling person lift their hard and heavy load
If I have shed one light in any darken hour Then I have not lived in vain.
If I have erred as all humans must have, And oft displeased my Godfrom whence I came,
And when he said my child, you're forgiven, I know my prayers were not in vain.
I've put my heart and soul within my ltibors. I did not strive to reach the hall offame.
I labored hard among the meek, and the lowly, I've seen the fruits; my work was not in vain.
And now! The curtains slowly close for me, I welcome death, and the sweet rest it brings.
I do not fear nor do I dread the hour, All is well! I have not lived in vain.
