Reflections of Life
Mrs. Angelene Easterling Smith was born September 5, 1930 toN. Z. and Essie Robinson in Brookhaven, MS. At a very young age, her mother moved the family to Hattiesburg where she remained a lifelong resident. She was christened at Zion Chapel A.M.E. Church and later, as a teenager, moved her membership to True Light Missionary Baptist Church where she was baptized under the late Rev. W. D. Ridgeway.
Never one to just occupy a pew, she loved serving in Church as a Sunday School teacher, member of the Junior Mission, Mission #2 and the Nurses Guild. She enjoyed attending Bible Study and working wherever an extra hand was needed. Children, and adults alike, looked forward to getting treats from ~Ms. Angelene' as she offered her bag of peppermints, gum and lifesavers with a beautiful smile. Faith, Hope and Charity was her mantra, and was displayed in everything she did.
Educated in the Hattiesburg School System, she fully participated in all Euro activities with her class. Retiring in 1987 after 25 years as a School Crossing Guard with the City of Hattiesburg, she received much love over the years from ~children of the children' she helped to cross safely at her corner. She remembered many of them by name and enjoyed laughing at their stories of how she kept them from fighting or caught them trying to sneak off the school campus or other antics. As a seamstress during that same time, Ms. Angelene made beautiful garments for herself, her children and the community.
She took an active role in the political process and the civil rights movement during the t 60s and was a strong advocate in the voter registration process. As a result of those actions, she was seen by many of you at various locations as a poll worker. She lived life to the fullest and participated in numerous senior and community activities. In her travels to visit her children, she made many friends who became extended family members and will cherish her with fond memories.
As the matriarch of her family, Ms. Angelene was a source of strength and wisdom that we all sought. Her home was a constant refuge. Any visitor to her home saw an immediate indication of her love of family by the sheer number of pictures lovingly displayed on every wall. One would need lots of time to view all of the albums and hear the stories of each picture as she would tell with so much love.

Reflections of Life
Most of her family shared a beautiful gathering on April 23rd, showering her with lots of love and attention prior to her passing. Ms. Angelene was preceded in death by her first husband, Marvin Easterling, Sr. and later, her second husband, James Smith; her sister Gloria Maye; and three daughters, Essie Myrtis Easterling (1999), Jacqueline Tucker (2011) and Dauphaulene Atkins (2013). She will be forever cherished by her three daughters: Audrey (Nathaniel) Davis of East Point, GA; Gloria (Lee) Booth of Laurel, MS; and Tina Wilson of Sacramento, CA. Her three sons, Marvin (Victoria, deceased) Easterling, Jr. of Glendale, MS; Donny (Glenda) Easterling of San Pablo, CA; and Melvin (Ruby) Easterling of Jacksonville, FL. She also leaves five sisters to celebrate her life: Evelyn Brown of Mobile, AL; Daisy Jenkins of Jackson, MS; Ida Jenkins, Josie Lloyd and Dorothy McMurtry, all in Brookhaven, MS. Three brothers: John Robinson of San Diego, CA; Robert (Anna) Robinson and S. L. (Jodell) Robinson of Brookhaven, MS.
Her family includes the love of all of 25 grandchildren-- Angela (Bobby) Huff; Gary Easterling; Toneeki Easterling; Joseph Banks, Jr.; LaTanja Banks; Erica (Tarran) Johnson; Cle Johnson, Jr.; Andria McCloud; Karyl (Marques) Williams; Will (Destinee') Bivins III; Marlena Jenkins; Letoria Easterling; Marvin Easterling, III; Maricell (Jason) Cenidoza; Donny Easterling, Jr.; Donna Easterling; Dominique Easterling; Derrick Easterling; Daniel Easterling; Darren Easterling; Dillon Easterling; Shannon Easterling; Christopher Easterling; Cedric Easterling and Elizabeth 11Latrice" Green. Keeping her in their hearts are 35 great-grands, two great-great grands, and an uncountable number of cousins, nieces and nephews. Also remembering her with love, laughter and affection are lifelong friends, neighbors and church members.
We give all the Praises to God Almighty for her long, fruitful and beautiful life!

To All ofMy .Children
"WHEN I MUST LEAVE You"
WHEN I MUST LEAVE YOU
FOR A UTILE WHILE, PLEASE DO NOT GRIEVE AND SHED WILD TEARS AND HUG YOUR SORROW TO YOU, THROUGH THE YEARS, BUT START OUT BRAVELY WITH A GALLANT SMILE; AND FOR MY SAKE AND IN MY NAME LIVE ON AND DO ALL THINGS THE SAME, FEED NOT YOUR LONELINESS
ON EMPTY DAYS, BUT FILL EACH WAKING HOUR
IN USEFUL WAYS, REACH OUT YOUR HAND IN COMFORT AND IN CHEER AND liN TURN WILL COMFORT YOU AND HOLD YOU NEAR; AND NEVER, NEVER BE AFRAID TO DIE,
FOR I AM WAITING FOR YOU
IN THE SKY!

A Mother's Love
There's no love like a mother's love,
Her heart is filled with care.
With Christ as her example, Her Savior's love she'll share.
