Obituary
Mr. Ervin Smalley was born October 27, 1924 in McDuffie County, GA to the late Mr. & Mrs. Eddie (Sophie Allen) Smalley. He joined the Greater St. James AME Church ofThomson, GA at an early age. After moving to Atlanta, GA, he joined the Turner Monumental AME Church and served faithfully as former President of the Choir, Lay Leader and Sunday School Teacher.
He served proudly in the United States Army during the Korean War and was Honorably discharged. During his tenure, he received the American Theater Good Conduct Medal and the Victory Medal.
He joined in Holy Matrimony to Mrs. Ollie Mae Rogers Smalley and to this union seven children were born. A son, Horace Smalley preceded him in death.
On Monday, January 6, 2003 at 11:00 a.m., the Angels of Death transported his soul form Labor to Reward, the Battle was fought, the Victory won and he has entered into the Master's Joy.
He leaves precious memories to: his wife, Mrs. Ollie Mae Smalley of Thomson, GA; four sons, Rev. John (Margaree) Smalley, Ronald (Dorothy) Smalley, Willie Duke (Shirley) Smalley, all of Thomson, GA, Danny (Ayumu) Smalley of Turkey; two daughters, Bernice (Eddie) Bryant of New Ellenton, SC, Earlene (Nathaniel) Brown of Thomson, GA; 19 grandchildren, 26 great children, 4 great great grandchildren, special friends, Virginia Kendrick and Family and Hazel Ann Jones and Family; a host ofother relatives and friends.
