VIVIAN DELOIS SIMS

I was born on the 23rd day of November. 1926 ~a day before Thanksgiving. I was the FIRST child ~ born to the late Odessa Long and Eugene Raven. I was the FIRST grandchild of the late Walter and
Mollie (Jackson)-Long. I was the great grandchild of William
Captain (affectionately known as Papa Capp) and Matilda Jackson.
I attended Young Street Elementary~ David T. Howard and Washington High Schools. I also attended the Blayton Business College and
was blessed with a gift that allowed me to be extraordinary with numbers ~ and an asset to any business or company with which I
would later become employed.
As a young adult. I met the love of my life ~ Sylvester Sims. Sr. whom I would later marry. To this union we were blessed with 8 beautiful children. My FIRST child ~Sherry Sims-Martin~ preceded me in death. My other children are, Sylvia Sims-Clark (Barry). Vickie Sims
-Johnson (Riley). Rita Sims-Lewis. Sylvester (Tony) Sims, Jr. (Shemecka). Glynis Sims-Jenkins (Richard). Otis Sims (Lena). and
Darlene Sims.
I have been generationally blessed with twenty-four grandchildre11:
Anita. Ronald. Vivian (Denise). Richard. Alicia. Reginald. Roderick.
Pomdrest (PJ). Toshia. TeKeisha. Amethyst (Boonkie). Princess.
Brandon (deceased). Sylvester (Buddah). Shermon. Matthew. Skylar. Jediddah (TJ). Sherry. and Daniel.
I was employed at the Atlanta Army Depot for many years. I was a humble servant to the Lord, and worked, as a volunteer. at the Westhills Presbyterian Church-serving the homeless.
I gave my life to Christ at an early age. I became a member of Big Bethel Al\1E church as a child, At the time of my death, I was a faith-
ful member of Saint Philip AME Church in Decatur. Georgia. I was preceded in death by ~ my husband. first child. mother. father.
and my ONLY sister ~ Betty Kelsey.
I have ONE cousin Hubert T. (Nick) Long.-who has always been as close as a brother.
