On Wednesday, October 16, 2013 Mother Ruby Sims heard God say, "Well done my good and faithful servant," and she entered into the gates to meet her savior for her eternal rest.
Mother Ruby was the daughter of the late John L. Harper, Sr. and Lenora (Askew) Harper. She was born in Atlanta, Georgia and educated in the Atlanta Public School System. She was employed at Sun Trust Bank for 30 years, where she retired and later worked part-time.
Ruby accepted Christ as her personal Lord and Savior at a young age. As a child, she attended Macedonia A.M.E. Church. She then later joined Christian Missionary Baptist Church, where she served faithful on the Mothers Board and other ministries.
Mother Ruby was married to the late Artie H. Bowden. Out of this marriage, they were blessed with three children: Virginia, LaVerne and Patricia. Later she married the late Reverend Virgil Sims.
Mother Ruby was a faithful member of the Georgia Association of Ministers' Wives and Minister's Widows. For many years she was a vital part of the Rivercrest HOA, where she served on the Board of Directors.
She leaves to celebrate her life and legacy daughters: Virginia Mays, LaVerne Lundy and Patricia Bowden; step-daughter, Patricia Copeland; grandchildren: Monica (Keith) Greenwood, Sr., Tuvache Moody, Arthur Rocker, Jr., Dr. Rae' Lundy, and Curtis Kimbro; great grandchildren: Keith Greenwood, Jr., and Eddie Moody, Jr.; siblings: Mrs. Annie Ruth Maddox, Mrs. Lillie Bell Rocker, Mrs. Emma Heard, Mrs. Elnora (Billy) Mann, Mr. George (Terry) Harper, Mrs. _Theresa Potts and Mr. Bernard Harper; and a host of numerous loved ones.
