THE OBITUARY OF
MINNIE GERTRUDE BRAY SHELTON
. "S~ster Minnie" as Mrs. Shelton was affectionately called, was born in Warrencounty, Georgia; She was the eldest daughter of thirteen children hom to John Bob and Daisy Bray. Shejoined Sandy Grove A.M.E. Church in Warrenton, Georgia at an early age and gave her life to Christ.
Sister Minnie married John Waymon Shelton in 1920. She and Johnnie later moved to Macon, Georgia where they joined St. Paul A.M.E. Church. They shared fifty-one years together until his death in 1971.
Mrs. Shelton was an active member of the Senior Choir (later the Chancellor.Choir), the Friendship Club, and willingly gave of her time and talents. She was honored in February of 1987 for sixty-three years of faithful service to the Senior Choir. In October of 1990 the St. Paul A.M.E. Church honored her as "The Woman of St. Paul A.M.E. Church" in appreciation for years of dedicated service.
She is survived by: two brothers, Garner W. Bray(Minnie) of Philadelphia, PA, Willie R. Bray (Dorothy) of Tuskegee, AL; one sister, Lou Weeda Bray Thurston (Charles) of Brooklyn, NY; four sisters-in-law, Mary Ruth Carter, Macon, GA, Virginia Shelton Holiday, Brooklyn, NY, Mary Shelton Watson, Cleveland, OH, Laura Shelton, Macon, GA; a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews; two special lifelongfriends, Mary Morgan, Macon, GA and Mattie Robinson, Macon, GA
