Duane L. Sharp was born April 29, 1961 In Atlanta, GA to the parents ofMrs. Lillie Mosley andMr. William Clevela:zd
As a child, Duane excelledin baseball and basketball. His passion for basketball, lead him to play on the U.S. Navy team while receiving training as an aviation mechanic, which hejoined aftergrad:1ation from D. M Therrell 1~:s. in 1979.
While in the Navy, Duane met three life long fri~.nds, Scottie Dennis, Warren Griffin and Malachi Huto. His memories were vivid, as he would often reflect on their experiences while stationedin japan.
After being discharged in 1982, Dua11e returned to Atlanta, where he later met his wife, Laticia. They married four y ears later on September 8, 1990. God blessed Duane and Laticia with two b~autiful children, jordan Nicole and Jarrett Elijah. Family was very important to Duane. They spent lots of time together. It was not unusual on a Saturday, to see the family out on the famous ucomet' bike trail. Eating out and su.tmner vacaHons were a must. Duane was the organizer ofthe 'ltnnual Six Flags Day Outing', rhich he extendedinvitations to aD his family and friends.
As son, Jarrett became of age; Duane took on a new role as 'Coach Sharp' for little league bas~ball nd basketball. Because of his fierce competitive ~'1ature, Duane assisted in leading his basketball team to win a District 2 championship in his first year of coaching. And, lead his baseball team to the AU Stars in his second year of coaching. Though he could not coach daughter, jordan, as she pursued her interest in cheerleading, dance and choir, Duane was always the proud father in the stand or audience to support her. Duane would also be seen in the crowd of his nieces, nephews a11d cousin's games and performances. He believed it was important that children have the moral support oftheir immediate and extended families.
After becoming a member of World Changers iJ.1 1991, Duanejoined the parking Jot ministry in 1995. While on the ministry, he formed strong bonds with many on the parking lot team and their families. Whenever there were functions or outings, Duane made it his purpose to be in attendance. His Jove for the ministry went beyond parking cars. It allowed him to minister the Word of God to visitors and members as they arrived for service.
Whether you were a relative, friend or one ofhis league players, Duane always had a way ofm r= ~~fng you feel special In every heart he touched, in every life he changed, in every thought he inspirea~ he'll live on.
