A Love Letter
to Our Mom
Hi Mom, First of all we would like to thank God for choosing you to be our mom! From the first time we laid eyes on you it was instant love between mother and child. A we write thi letter, we reflect on all the things you did for u , how you made sure we were taken care of, and most importantly how you INSISTED we be God fearing children.
Mom, we remember the days when things got rough and money was tight...at least I do. From the housing projects of Perry Homes to Delmar Lanes to St hanie Dr you made sure we never wanted for anything, especially our little princess Erika I remember the times that you and I were trying to figure out how Erika would have a good Christmas, or how we could get up tHe money for her to be a cheerleader, ot how we could get her the $100 riding boots that we could not aH rd. Remember om, Erika never knew we were poor! LOL! I guess people wonder why I say .(/you and I" had to figure things out. It's simply because you allowed me to "think'' I was the man of the house. Th you mom for teaching me honesty, respect, boldness and most of all how to be a man of God!
Mom, I remem at young age when people would refer to me as little Gwen and would be so annoyed because clearly you named me Erika. But as I got olaer gin t see how much I really did look like you. am honored to look like you because you are such a beautiful lady! I always laughed at some of the things you said and did...like when my friends would look at me and say "Your
mom looks just like you" a you would quickly correct them by
saying "No, she looks like me!" Or how you insisted that people spelled my name right, because I Erika with 11k", not "c''. Or how I was AMAZED when I found out that your natural hair color wasn't blonde. Oops, I'm sorry; I let the cat out the bag. You made sure that we had our standing Friday hair appointment with Mrs. Mary a long as I can remember. Thank you for being such a beautiful lady and instilling that beauty in me! I am who I am because of you.
We can go on and on with the wonderful memories that we shared. But we realize that God had another plan for you. We are confident that you are in a better place, bowling strikes on the heavenly lanes. We find comfort in knowing that if we continue on the Christian foundation that you laid for u , we will see you again!
Love, Gerard and Erika
