Mr. Eddie Lee Scott was born on February 14, 1945 to the late Eddie Frank and Lizzie Mae Scott. He was affectionately known as "Brother" by his family members and friends. Eddie began his early years of education while attending Mathalama Elementary School in Morrow, Georgia. He joined Mathalama's A.M.E. Church at an early age where his family was spiritually rooted.
Eddie continued his formal years of education at W. A. Fountain High School in Forest Park, Georgia. In 1965, Mr. Scott went on to Atlanta Area Technical Business College, where he earned his degree in welding.
In 1968, Mr. Scott became employed by General Motors (Lakewood Plant) as an Assembly Lineman. It was also in this same year that Mr. Scott was drafted into the United States Army to defend our country in the Vietnam War.
Mr. Scott served our country with honor, courage and valor from August 1968 to August 1974. While serving in the Army, Mr. Scott received the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal, and the Vietnam Campaign Medal.
After returning to civilian life, Eddie married the late Rhonda Copeland. Mr. Scott became employed at Atlanta Water Works where he worked as a Water Treatment Plant Operator. In 1981, Mr. Scott accepted the position of Assistant Manager at Scott's Auto Reconditioning Service which was owned by his brother, Mr. Robert Scott. His tenure at Scott's Auto spanned fourteen years.
In 2002, Mr. Scott worked at the VA Hospital as a Patient Porter until his health began to decline. Mr. Scott loved being with and celebrating his family. He was loved by both grown-ups and children and he loved life.
Mr. Scott leaves a his legacy a loving and devoted family. He is survived by his four sons, Mr. Niko M. (Alethia) Scott, Mr. Shawn (Lillie) Copeland, Mr. Marvin Copeland, and Mr. DeAngelo Copeland; thirteen grandchildren; one great-grandchild; three sisters, Mrs. Virginia (Harold) Echols, Mrs. Mildred Wadley, and Mrs. Alpheda (Curtis) McDowell; one brother, Mr. Robert L.(Marie) Scott; two aunts, Ms. Pecola Stringer and Mrs. Sally Scott; a host of cousins, nieces, and nephews. Mr. Scott is preceded in death by two sisters, Ms. Elise Scott and Mrs. Louvenia Hambrick and two brothers-in-law, Mr. Ralph Hambrick and Mr. James Wadley.
