Don't you think the time is right? May I say good-bye to pain-filled days
and endless restless nights? I've lived my life and done my best,
an example I tried to be. So can I take that step beyond
and see my spirit free? I did not want to go at first, !fought with all my might! But something seems to draw me now To a warm and living light. I want to go! I really dol It's difficult to stay. But I will try as best I can to live
just one more day. To give you time to care for me and share your love andfears. I know you're sad and are afraid,
because I see your tears. I'll not be far, I promise that, and hope you 'II always know, That my spirit will be close to you
wherever you may go. Thank you so much for loving me,
you know I loved you, too. That's why it's hard to say good-bye
and end this life with you, So hold me now, just one more time,
and let me hear you say, Because you care so much for me,
you 'I! let me go today.

~~ ~ 0{~ .f21Mtt"was born on May 28, 1933 in Dekalb County, "
Georgia (Lithonia) , to the late Joyce Ruth Barnes and the late Deacon Walter Scott, Sr. After a long and courageous fight with cancer , he departed this life on October 3, 2002.
He received his elementary and high school education at the Bruce Street School in Lithonia , Georgia and graduated from high school valedictorian of his class. He joined the Union Missionary Baptist Church at an early age, under the leadership of Reverend N.T. Walker and served faithfully on the building fund committee, Deacon Board, Male Chorus, and other auxiliaries until his health failed.
He attended Morehouse College and was later drafted into the US Army. Upon discharge from the US Army, he attended the Slayton Business School of Accounting , receiving his CPA and later became an instructor at the school.
He was very active in the Civil Rights movement and participated in several civil rights marches. His desire for entrepreneurship led him to open his own business (Scott's Bookkeeping and Accounting Services). In 1988, he retired from the US Postal Service after 33 years of devoted services .

Arthur was united in holy matrimony to Ms. Christine H. Scales on June 30 , 1957, to this union two children were born , Vickie and Neal.

He leaves to cherish his memory a devoted wife and loving family, Mrs. Christine H. Scales Scott, son, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Neal (Tracey) Scott, daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Vickie V. (Larry) Jordan (Daddy's Girl) , nine grandchildren, Daryl, Christina , Larry, Jr. , Corey, Brittany, Brandon , Mia , Cameron and JonPaul; mother, Mrs. Ozzie Mae Scott; two brothers , Mr. and Mrs. Walter (Lavonia) Scott, Jr. , Mr. and Mrs. Robert E. (Sharon) Scott, Sr.; one sister, Ms. Shirley Scott Smith ; aunt, Mrs. Nell Roberts , a friend and god sister, Ms. Ida Reid Carter; goddaughter, Ms. Charlene Reid ; brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law and a host of nieces , nephews , cousins , family and friends .

Arthur Scott, a unique, unrepeatable miracle of God, enrolled in the Slayton

School of Accounting, Slayton's Business College in the early 1950s. Scott,

as he was affectionately called, was a student and a scholar. He showed a

keen and deep interest in his class work and was always able to complete

large volumes of homework . His intellect and brilliance stood out. He was

chosen team leader many, many times when Mr. or Mrs. Slayton assigned an

accounting problem as a team project. At the school, he made friends easily

and was always in charge, even though, he had a quiet manner. His grades

were always the best. He loved the accounting curriculum and tolerated the

other courses. Because of his intellect, his attention to detail, his ability to

stay focused and natural follow-through to the end spirit, Scott was invited to

serve as a staff member in accounting office of Mr. J . B. Slayton, Sr.,

America's first black Certified Public Accountant. Scott graduated and along

with his other activities, he established a private accounting firm and served

many, many people until two years ago. Scott was good accountant and

0

served his clients in an excellent fashion .
