Faith is being sure ofwhat we hope for and certain ofwhat we do not see. Hebrews 11:1
Deacon Paul Elliott Robinson, Sr., was born in Orangeburg, South Carolina to the late Joseph and Louise Brabham Robinson. He was the second of seven children.
He was educated in the public schools of Orangeburg where he excelled and developed his business sense. He was a hard worker and an early riser, as he would always say "Nothing comes to a sleeper but a dream!" After serving in the Korean Conflict, he returned to the historic Wilkinson High School and graduated. It was there in those halls, he met the love of his life, his wife, the late Josephine Elizabeth Felder Robinson. Paul attended Denmark Technical Trade School and studied barbering. Upon graduation from the program, he chose with faith and hard work to become an employer of men and women in his community.
Our Daddy's work ethic was developed at a young age. At seven years of age, he was a shoe shine boy. Paul was self employed and founded Professional Barber Shops 1, 2, 3 and Professional Hair Design. The family business has been a main stay in Orangeburg for over 60 years. Many barbers were trained, became business owners and were able to provide for their families as a result of his spirit, willingness to share, encouragement and mentorship.
Deacon Robinson was a lifelong member of St. Paul Baptist Church, where he served in various leadership capacities, too numerous to mention. He was a serious student, studied and was knowledgeable of the WORD of our Lord and Savior JESUS CHRIST. He trained his natural born and village children to keep the faith and trust GOD in all things and at all times.
Granddaddy Robinson left a LEGACY of WISDOM to last a LIFETIME; his Pearls of Wisdom to his grandchildren as they recall:
Dr. Jia Herring McClain: When it comes to negativity, "You gotta let the foolishness roll offofyou like water on a duck!"
Paul E. Robinson, III: "Keep people out ofyour business! "
John 0. Herring, III: "Now John, whaaaatever you do...don 't settle with a woman that doesn't bring anything to the table. Save you some money and keep GOD first! "
Sadia M. Robinson: "Don 't take no stuffoffnobodyI"
God saw fit to call "Bubba", "Kingfish", Paul, Deacon Robinson, our Daddy home on June 1, 2018. He left his thumbprint on our hearts, minds and we are blessed to have enough memories for al lifetime. He leaves his children: Deborah (Dr. John) Herring of Atlanta, GA, Paul E. Jr. (Sherri) and Leslie Monique both of Orangeburg; grandchildren: Jia (Dionne) Herring McClain of Chesapeake, VA, Paul E. Robinson, III and John 0. Herring, III both of Atlanta, GA, and Sadia M. Robinson of Tampa, FL; one great grandchild, Julian Levi McClain; his siblings: Josephine R. Evans of Orangeburg, SC, Ruby R. Lott of South Ozone Park, NY, Annie Lois R. Saunders of Brooklyn, NY, Joseph (Lizzie) Robinson of Williamstown, NJ, Louise R. (Eugene) Cleckly of Myrtle Beach, SC and Betty (Cartez) Johnson of Hollis, NY; brothers-in-law: Ben (Ruth) Felder of San Antonia, TX and Melvin Felder of Chandler, AZ; and a host of nieces, nephews, the past and present Professional Barbershop employees and Village Families from around the country. Thank you GOD for lending Deacon Paul E. Robinson, Sr. to us! Amen, Amen, Amen!
