Mary Lou Riley was born on January 19, 1912 to the late Margaret and Matthew Henderson in Conyers, Georgia. She was the 8th of ten children. She departed this earthly life on Friday, December 1, 2006.
Mother Mary Lou Riley joined Macedonia Baptist Church in Conyers, Georgia at an early age where she served well. She later joined the Greater Liberty Hill Baptist Church in Atlanta, Georgia where she served as an Usher, on the Stewardess Board, and the Pastors' Aide Board. She also organized choir #1 at Greater Liberty Hill Baptist Church where she lead songs. She was a member of the Eastern Star. She joined Thankful Baptist Church in Decatur, Georgia in January of 1974. After joining she immediately became a member of the Mother's Board.
Mother Riley was a loving and devoted mother. She was married to the late Mr. Otis Riley and to this union, five children were born.
Mother Mary Lou Riley leaves behind to mourn her passing and carry on her legacy: her son, Mr. Randolph Riley ( & daughter-in-law, Mary E. Riley) of California; her daughters, Ms. Arcelia R. Vaughn of Atlanta, Georgia, Mrs. Elaine R. McDaniel (& son-in-law, Roy McDaniel) of Atlanta, Georgia and Ms. Opal R. Neely of Atlanta, Georgia; her five grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; her sister, Mrs. Ruth Ashford; her sister-in-law, Mrs. Ollie Henderson; and a host of nieces, nephews, other family and many dear friends.
