Porter Reynolds was born in Covington (Newton County), Georgia on January 12, 1913 to Mr. Fred Reynolds and Mrs. Josiephine Starr Reynolds. He was the youngest child of ten siblings. Nine preceded him in death. He departed this life December 10, 2002 at Atlanta Medical Hospital.
Porter received his elementary education in Newton County Public Schools.
He was united in marriage in 1932 to Elise Giles. This marriage lasted for more than 70 years. To this union one child, Mattie, was born.
Upon moving to Atlanta, he united with Turner Monumental A.M.E. Church under the pastorate of Rev. H. Jackson. He was active in the Male Chorus and served as a Trustee.
Porter served his country well in the United States Marine Corps from 1944 to 1946, being discharged as a Corporal with an Honorable Discharge. He was a very meticulous barber and painter.
Memories of Mr. Reynolds will be forever cherished by his loving and devoted daughter Mrs. Mattie R. George; granddaughters, Mr. & Mrs. Melvin Phillips (Sharon) and Mrs. Trudy Robinson; great-grandchildren: Ms. Kedra Phillips, Mr. Melvin Shyronn Phillips, and Mr. Russell Smothers; sister-in-law, Mrs. Carrie Reynolds, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Elise Reynolds was born in Atlanta (Fulton County), Georgia in the Summerhill Community, to Mr. William Giles-and Mrs. Sallie Hinton Giles. To this union, two siblings were born. Her brother preceded her in death. She departed this life on December 8, 2002.
Elise received her education in the Atlanta Public School System, attending E. P. Johnson Elementary and BookerT. Washington High Schools.
After the passing of her grandmother, Elise moved to Stone Mountain, Georgia and lived with a wonderful cousin, the late Mrs. Darling Weaver. She united with Bethsaida Baptist Church under the pastorate of Rev. H. H. Woodson, where she was very active.
She was married to Mr. Porter Reynolds in 1932. To this union, one daughter was born. Upon moving back to Atlanta, she joined Ebenezer Baptist Church under the pastorate of Rev. M. L. King, Sr. Coming to the Edgewood Community, she united with The Greater Travelers Rest Baptist Church under the pastorate of the Rev. L. A. Pinkston. She served faithfully on the Senior Ushers Board and the Kitchen Committee.
Memories of Mrs. Reynolds, affectionately known as "Big Mama" will be forever cherished by her loving and devoted daughter, Mrs. Mattie R. George; granddaughters, Mr. & Mrs. Melvin Phillips (Sharon) and Mrs. Trudy Robinson; great-grandchildren: Ms. Kedra Phillips, Mr. Melvin Shyronn Phillips, and Mr. Russell Smothers; sister, Mrs. Willie Mae Murray; sister-in-law, Mrs. Carrie Reynolds, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
