Obituary
Narvie Danese Hill was the firstborn of 5 children of Henry and Davie Hill (their son Wilensky died as an infant). Narvie ("Bay" to family and close friends) was educated in the Atlanta Public School system, and from early on took great pride in academic excellence. She entered Spelman College at the age of 16 and earned a Bachelors Degree. Narvie earned her Masters Degree from Atlanta University, a Specialist Degree from the University of Georgia, and Ph.D from Georgia State University.
Dr. Puis received numerous academic and professional awards throughout her career. She belonged to and helped establish many organizations, among them the Atlanta Suburban Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority of which she was a charter member.
Narvie married John Arthur Williams, also an educator, and to this union two children were born-Dawn Andrea Williams and Kevin Hill Williams. Narvie and John were later divorced; John died after a short illness in 1983. Narvie married Richard Coyne Puis (Saba Richard Ogigi) Puis, Ed.D. in 1987. Narvie's professional career as an educator encompassed 36 years in the Atlanta Public School system. She taught at Archer, Price, West Fulton and Therrell High Schools. She was Assistant Principal at Price High School then Principal at Crogman, Humphries and Scott Elementary Schools. As a teacher and principal Narvie demanded that her students perform at their highest potential and she followed them each step of the way. In addition to teaching, she held extra-curricular activities such as instruction in square dancing, clogging, poise lessons and African Infusion classes.
Narvie enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, reading, sewing, making her own clothes, architectural and structural design, and playing bridge. After retiring in 1992, Narvie founded Omenela Griot, An Afrocentric Teaching Museum, a community based environment in West End where she taught the true story of African history. As museum Director Narvie traveled to Ghana, Senegal and the Caribbean.
She leaves to cherish her memory her husband Saba Richard Ogigi Puis, Ed.D; daughter Dawn (Irvin Wheeler) Williams Boyd , son Kevin (Wanda Latrell) Hill Williams; sisters Trophyce Carter, Una (Everett) Smith, and Beverly (George) Satterwhite; grandchildren Dziko Ain (Edward) Rue, lyabo Kijakazi Boyd, Winston George Saddler, Irvin Dwynell Wheeler, and Natwana Breyona Pace.

The good teacher makes the poor

student good and the good stu-

dent superior. When our students

fail, we, as teachers, too, have

The 23rd Psalm
The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He makes me to lie down in green pastures. le restores my soul. He leads me in the paths of righteousnE
For His namels sake.
Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of deatt
I will fear no evil; for Thou art with me; Thy rod and Thy staff, they comfort me.
Thou preparest a table before me, in the presence of my enemies.
Thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runs over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me All the days of my life
And I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.
