OUR ANGEL
Priscilla Pressley was born to Frank Jackson and Dorothy Pressley on October 3, 1948. She passed to her Heavenly Reward quietly on November 28, 2014 in her home in Atlanta, Georgia. From the time she was a child, Priscilla proved that she was a unique individual with amazing humor and wit. Her nickname in school was "Shorty." A native of Atlanta, she attended Dobbs Elementary and Archer High School. She was a very active student known for her personal style, singing in choir, and enjoyed incredibly the Future Homemakers Club. She graduated from Archer High School in 1967 and attended Savannah State University.
Priscilla's grandmother, Thelma Pressley known affectionately to the family as "Marne," was a major influence in her life. Under her guidance, Priscilla gave her life to Christ at a very young age. She was a member of Mt. Ephraim Baptist Church and loved the preaching of Rev. Dr. R.L. White. She loved God with all her heart and prayed without ceasing until she was on her way to see Him for herself. The Pre,ssleys' are a big loving family and Priscilla's cousins-sisters, Helen Pressley and Shirley Pressley were best friends. The family called them the Golden Girls. Love was the ethos of Priscilla's life and she took care of so many in her beloved comrnunity Thomasville Heights. If you were hungry or in need of a place to stay you could go to Priscilla. Her tight hugs, loving spirit, and good southern cooking would wash all of your problems away. Priscilla had a voice of humanity, speaking out against anything that fettered the human spirit.
Priscilla loved being a mother. Missy and Mia were her pride and joy. She had a relationship with her girls that were based on unconditional love and respect. She understood how different the personalities of her girls are and just the right way to love them. Priscilla encouraged her girls to live out their dreams. She felt the same way about her grandchildren and great grandchildren and wanted so much more for them than she had. She adored them. Her heart had no bounds and she extended that love to the rest of her family, the community, even strangers that after a short while were strangers no more . Every holiday was at Priscilla's house. Her favorite thing to say was "I love you". She had a special gift that could lift anyone, always putting others before herself. Priscilla was one the best cooks in Atlanta and her Key Lime cake, sweet potato pies, and homemade rolls were legendary. She even cooked with love.
She is survived by daughters Millicent (Missy) Allen and Mia Pressley, two granddaughters, Radreckia Allen and Rakita Allen, two great grandsons, Mekhi Allen and Tyler Nelson and one great granddaughter Denver Billings and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins extended family and friends. She . had one sister, Sandra Pressley, and brothers, Anthony Pressley and Ed Dwight Pressley who preceded her in death. Her life and her body trumpet the importance of tolerance, forgiveness, and compassion.
THANK YOU Morna
Thank you for giving me life and for always taking care of me Thank you for teaching me about what is important in this lifethat love, forgiveness, and compassion are the three keys that are capable of unlocking any door that stands locked before me.
Thank you for teaching me how to listen to feelings with my heart and to look into another's soul with compassion. You have shown me that, with love, there is enough strength to move mountains of desperation and to undertake any challenge that this life offers me.
Thank you for showing me the joys in life that others so often take for granted . You and I have been through 'a lot together, but we've always held on to each other and kept love in our hearts unconditionally. We love you, an we thank you Morna.
