:Mr. Joe Lewis Potts, son of the late Abe E. Potts and Mary Sue
Lipscomb was born July 27, 1941 in Troup County, Georgia.
He departed this earthly journey and entered into eternal rest on Saturday, August 18, 2012 at Southern Regional Medical Hospital, Riverdale, Georgia.
Mr. Potts accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior at an early age. He was a member of the Wehadkee Baptist Church, Abbottsford, Georgia.
Joe was a graduate of Ethel W. Kight High School, Class of 1960. He served in the United States Army in Korea. He was also employed as a camera man for Channel 5 Television for many years. Joe was the owner of his production company, Two Mules and a Jig, Spring Street, Atlanta, Georgia. Joe had a passion for being behind the camera, he did movie and film work for movie magnet actors Clint Eastwood in "High Plains Drifter" and Burt Reynolds in "Smokey and the Bandit". He also did commercial and advertisement work for Delta Airlines and Coca-Cola. He was a very skillful fisherman as well. One of Joe's favorite spots was the West Point Lake Dam, where he did night fishing off the dam's peer, where he made many friends.
Joe lived with his brother-in-law and sister for several years where a strong brotherly bond developed that will last forever with brother-in-law, Tommie; during the last years of his life, he lived with his brother and sister-in-law who served as devoted caregivers, Lucein and Yolanda Potts.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Almon Jean Hairston; and a nephew, Nicholas Potts.
He leaves to cherish his memories, a sister, Mrs. Etruluia (Columbus) Heard, LaGrange, GA; brother, Mr. Lucein (Yolanda) Potts, Atlanta, GA; brothers-inlaw, Mr. Tommie Hairston, LaGrange, GA; and Mr. Clifton Earl Harden, Atlanta, GA; a special friend, Ms. Evonne Sutton, Stanford, FL; nephews, Mr. Randall (Valerie) Heard, LaGrange, GA; Mr. Bernard (Aretha) Potts, Buford, GA; Mr. Travis (Mary) Hairston, LaGrange, GA; and Mr. Mario Hairston, College Park, GA; nieces, Mrs. Tammy (Randolph) Huling, Pine Mountain, GA; Mrs. Tamika (Khari) Cooper, Union City, GA; Mrs. Denise (Christopher) Potts, Rex, GA; also, a host of cousins and great nieces, nephews.
